“Fun - but hardly polished”

I think the menu should be less - this had the feel of pack am in and pile em high. Nonetheless it was fun and the food was better than competent.

“New Years Day”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 1, 2014

Walked here from Champoluc. Despite being full of Italians we were made very welcome. Initially sat on terrace overlooking Valley but as sunset we moved inside. Sat at bar and made to feel welcome. Excellent food, lovely owner and grappa on house with coffee. Definitely a good place.

“Not just a superb meal, but a whole experience!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 28, 2013

We ate here 3 times during our stay in Champoluc, and left each time with huge smiles on our well contented faces. This is a small family run bar and restaurant, not far from the Frachey lift, and viable for a fine quality skier's lunch. There is a sunny terrace/balcony area with a few tables and benches, with fine views of the mountains at the end of the Ayas valley. Indoor tables are shared over two floors of a delightful traditional style wooden building.

How to describe the food? Fresh, delicious, prepared with love and a passion for seasonal and local produce. There are daily specials, house produced game and cured meats, including a mocetta of such exquisite flavour and texture that I still day dream over it from time to time. Each course was a joyful celebration of eating, and excellent wines from the area were expertly recommended to compliment the dishes.
That's not all, however, as we have never eaten anywhere quite like La Grange. The atmosphere deserves a mention, being a contributor towards making a brilliant evening. The music ranges from laid back blues to folk to rock'n' roll, seemingly determined by the reactions of the diners. After the last course is cleared, the traditional house grappa makes an appearance, often more than one variety, and sometimes with other local digestifs. There is no rush to remove these, and its more likely that you swap them with your neighbours to sample a little more 'hospitality'. The result? A warm hearted, relaxed and very happy restaurant full of contented punters. This is without a doubt THE most memorable place to eat if in Champoluc, and would influence our skiing plans by virtue of its excellence! TRY IT!!

“Hidden treasure”

Liked the finger food consisting of thinly sliced local meat and crisps, the cold Warsteiner beer and the local spirits. Served to you by nice bartender and son.

“We come here every trip”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 24, 2013

Staggeringly good and consistently excellent. There is an atmosphere here that is hard to explain. Laid back brilliance? Casual professionalism? Smooth cool? Effortless style? Whatever it is, it always works, these guys are just brilliant in their inventive menus and seamless delivery. Excellent service, intelligent understanding of wine, local Italian cooking at its very best.
