Ive been visiting Samos since 2004 and for me the Sofia hotel is the best hotel ive stayed at. The resort of votsalakia is a real haven for all thats good about Greece and im proud to call the hotel Sofia my second home. As a photographer i find new gems everytime i visit. The island's visually stunning. The people are kind and proud of their home. If you have not yet visited Samos then what are you waiting for and make sure you stay at the Sofia and enjoy a gorgeous hotel sat at the foot of the surrounding mountains next to a sandy clean beach and enjoy the loving hospitality of the Lotos family.

4 Years ago I went to Samos to get a way from a very stressful job. I had the luck to book with the Sofia Hotel. This family run hotel is across the road from a beautiful beach and is also very close to a wide selection of restaurants and bakeries for those who want to eat out. The hotel also runs a fantastic BBQ once a week with is all you can eat.

The Hotel it self is clean and comfortable. The Family are fantastic making you feel at home the moment you step through the door.

I can not wait to get back to Hotel Sofia and unwind.

see you there.

Room Tip: just explain what type of room you would like to the family and they will move mountains to make you comfortable.

We arrived at the Hotel after quite a long drive from the airport, through the hills. The views on the way were spectacular across the bay to the hotel and this gave us a real feel for the Island. We were delighted with our quiet unassuming hotel and the laid back attitude on arrival. The room we were given overlooked the pool and mountains which were spectacular, and although the wind whistled under our door more or less every night( tip: put a blanket along the bottom of the main door if you have your patio doors open). It was a basic but clean room, the bathroom was also basic but again clean. The beds were firm and as we expected this is usually how it is in Greece. The views across the mountains were spectacular. The pool was beautiful and clean and I went for a swim nearly every morning or evening. The breakfast can be a little bit repetitive but the loukoumous with honey are absolutely delicious (little donuts), a real treat and I could have eaten them every morning. The long sandy beach is just across the road and this was easy to access. The location of the hotel is really good with the selection of restaurants just on the doorstep, but it was far enough away to be so very quiet. The resort itself is very quiet really; there are, as far as we could see in August no nightclubs or loud music, just generally low key meals/drinks etc with a bit of entertainment (Greek dancing). We hired a car from Hermes car hire and the owner and his wife were extremely helpful. We travelled from end to end across the Island and up and down the hills to the vineyards in the highest village to the beaches acrross from Turkey (1.5 km). We joined the family on the saturday night barbecue and the food was excellent and the family are lovely people. The 2 dogs are really cute enjoy their fuss!
Overall everyone and especially Vasilis was extremely helpful to us and we would recommed anyone to visit this lovely, family run hotel. Thanks to all for a great time.

Room Tip: If you don't want to use the AC prop the patio doors open and then put a blanket next to the main door to stop the wind whistling through.
