“Great hotel,great hospitality and friendliness”
Reviewed September 9, 2012

We spent 5 days at this hotel with a family of friends.Since the first till the last minute of our stay Manolis and his family were always at hand ready to help or give an advice. It is really the most friendly hotel i have ever been at.Rooms are very nice, clean and well maintained. You get a free wireless internet. The breakfasts are very good on the terrace in front of the hotel-just a few metres from the beach. As we had rented cars we went to the beautiful beach of Falasarna which is only a 15 minute drive. One of the days we went to Elafonisi beach-just a paradise beach, although the road to that place is is very narrow and at moments dangerous. So we had a great stay and as we left the hotel,Manolis presented us with a bottle of his own-made olive oil.

This hotel is quite good for its category but don’t expect anything modern or luxurious. Instead, the hotel is some decades old and it shows, despite the fact that it is well maintained. The furniture and the equipment in the rooms are very simple and rather old-fashioned. Common areas are mostly empty and the furniture seems to have been brought from the owner’s home. The strong wi-fi connection in the rooms was a pleasant surprise and there is also a pc for common use in the reception area. Safes are not available but security does not seem to be an issue. What the rooms lack is a bin – the one in the bathroom is not enough. However, all in all the hotel is very clean.
Although the hotel is built just in front of the beach, only a few rooms (we think four) are sea front and the rest have a side sea view. What we didn’t like (actually we cannot understand) is that the space between the building and the beach (where the breakfast is served) has been covered with a totally unappealing flat concrete slab instead of growing a nice garden.
Breakfast is offered at an extra cost (6 euros per person) and is very specific. The quantities are more than enough but except from eggs or pancakes which are prepared on demand, the rest of the products are standardized and of average quality.
The service is very friendly. Actually, Manolis (the manager) considers the relaxation of his guests, one of his duties. Therefore, he does his best to welcome them in the hotel, discuss with them, identify their needs and fulfill them. The rest of the family is also very polite and helpful.
Galini is situated in a quiet area, away from the centre of Kissamos. The only annoyance you may experience comes from another hotel, just next door to Galini, where music plays all day long and people hang out in the garden till late at night. The beach in front of Galini is almost exclusively visited by people staying in the two hotels. The sea is ok for a quick dive but if you don’t mind the crowds don’t miss swimming in Falassarna or Balos.

We had a really lovely holiday here. Manolis, his family and staff go out of their way to be so wonderfully welcoming, kind and helpful. I don't think I've ever stayed anywhere where it has felt so genuine before. You really feel cared for. The rooms are spotlessly clean, the beds are most comfortable and we slept brilliantly. We don't usually go for places with air-conditioning but this hotel has excellent eco credentials in energy use and actually in August we really appreciated it. It was also nice and quiet. We had a room with a mini kitchenette (two hotplates, sink , fridge and cupboards) which was useful as some days it was nice to stay on the beach in front of the hotel and then make a light lunch ourselves. It's only a 5 or 10 minute walk to the beachside tavernas along the bay though. We also made lots of use of our quiet shady balcony overlooking tamarisk trees where you can watch dragonflies in the mornings and sunsets in the evenings. The delicious hotel breakfast was on the terrace overlooking the sea.
We liked the hotel beach which is mostly sandy and quiet. There is a small strip of pebbles as you enter the sea but then its all sandy and so swimming is easy for all. The sea catches the westerly breeze which is welcome in the heat of midsummer. There is a swell but its safe as it seems to gently carries you back into the shore. A few days it got quite choppy though. We preferred our hotel beach to the one at Mavros Molos recommended in the guidebooks as the latter was rather crowded.
There are lots of interesting places to explore and Manolis and the two Georges on reception were always on hand to help and advise. We recommend it very, very highly.

If you want to enjoy a real relaxing vacation, you are at Galini Beach Hotel in Kastelli / Kissamos in best hands.

We stayed there for one of our shortest enjoyable weeks.
The friendly Manoli, the owner, takes care with the help of his family for the wellbeing of its guests starting with the wonderful breakfast on the beach terrace up to the evening, where you can get from Him recommendations of local taverns
The hotel is shining of clean, spacious and air conditioned rooms, beach 10 meters.

What more do you need? We'll be back.

Galini Beach Hotel was our first stop in our Crete tour, and their welcome was very kind. The hotel is in front of the sea, with a fantastic view on the Balos peninsula, the natural reserve. From this point we visited all the north-west Chania region, with its majestic sandy beaches (Falassarna, Balos Lagoon) and the great Elafonisi beach, which is a few km far.
We had breakfast every morning in front of the sea, so the panorama was beautiful, but also the food was excellent! I started eating yogurt and omelettes every morning from that days!

Thanks to Manolis and his family for the relaxing days we had in Kissamos, at their hotel.
