This little taverna was one of the most wonderful parts of our time in Crete. We spent two weeks in the area eating at Porfira just about every second day. The owner, Vangellis, and his delightful girlfriend Stella were charming, funny, quickwitted and made us feel like family. The fish was tremendously fresh, the food was classic and delicious. I loved being there. I am a little slow to write my review as we've been home in Canada for several months now. I miss Porfira and the owners. We had many laughs together....and they really made our stay in Crete fun! I think in our two weeks there we manage to eat almost every single dish on the menu. It was a lot of fun trying new things along with some of our favorites. Thank you for being wonderfully welcoming restauranteurs. Cheers!

A lovely spot to watch the sun go down and well priced, well cooked food. We tried the mussels, steamed and with a tasty sauce followed by grilled sardines and salad. All were very good. The staff were freindly and attentive.
We also thought the meal good value, with drinks we paid less than 40 euros. At the end they offered us a complementary dessert and raki. I would happily return.

This restaurant sits in a tiny secret haven... The views are fantastic and the atmosphere friendly and inviting.
We have just spent a week in Nopiga and this taverna was our sanctuary.

The food is very good, typical Greek and try the Lyra beer. Locally produced and its excellent.

The people who own/run the taverna give you their utmost attention and make you feel very welcome....

We love this place and will be coming back soon...

Thank you Porfyra...

Mandy and Sam.

We stayed at a local villa and found Porfira by accident. We eat three nights here and were rewarded by authentic, good value, cuisine. The menu is fairly small but with a range of fish and traditional dishes.
There is the option of local wines and each meal is finished with a complimentary yoghurt and fruit dessert with Raki.
The family are charming and it was a real pleasure to eat overlooking the sea at sunset.
