After having been let down by so many "traditional food"-tavernas in the area we were totally stupefied/happily shocked by this unexpected gem of a place.

Just everything about this beach restaurant is the way it should be, and more: Relaxing couches facing the sea, an ol´ painted hippie-truck out by the ocean front, a slow breeze rocking the hammocks in the garden, inviting colors all around- and then the food. It´s the best food we had so far (we had slow-cooked chicken with wild lavender, so yummy)
Music is great, too, so right for the beach scene, slow jazz that´s not too club-y.

Service is impeccable. In Crete you meet so many people in the tourist industry that seemingly have grown tired of mass- tourism, and that understandable. But the Anna and her mom are so generous, full of heart, fun and laid back. I could go on. Agali is wonderful!

It is worth spending time to visit this beautiful tavern . the scenery is amazing with the sea just few steps in front of you. Everybody's very friendly making a comfy place to eat , have a drink or just enjoy the sunset. Also has a big garden that is child safe . I will definenately go there again and I strongly recommend it to you!!

Agali is not like other Greek tavera's: it's off the beaten path and invites you with a hippie-like, welcoming atmosphere. In their garden there are hammocks, games, and Anna. Anna is a very hospitable young woman who will make your visit worthwhile. She made time to do crafts with our daughter.

The food is also not your generic fair: a nice, pure take on the classics, or meals you won't find elsewhere. An evening or lunch at Agali is concluded with a bill that makes you wonder why she doesn't charge triple.

Agali means "cuddle" on Crete, and I now know why.
