We had a very enjoyable lunch at Zahaias Taverna which sits alongside the road to Falarama beach. The quality of the food and the hospitality of the owner and waitress were excellent. The owner refers to Tripadvisor as his big brother or something like that; it's clear that the good reputation and popularity of the Taverna has benefitted tremendously from the reviews on here. However it is well deserved and it's clear that the owner does not rest on his laurels and is keen to have constructive feedback on how to improve even more!

Not the cheapest lunch at 40 odd euros but one of the best we had during our week's stay in Crete.

Yet another wonderful meal with Fotios. This is my favorite taverna on the island. If your anywhere near its worth coming, you won't be disappointed.

Some of the very best home cooked Cretan food we've had. Very pleasant and attentive service by the family. Interesting location on a bend in the road on the way to Falasarna Beach. Do yourself a favor and stop for lunch or dinner. You will not regret it.

Wonderful home grown ingredients, delicious and large portions of cooked food and salads, and the service was very welcoming and attentive. Great place to stop and eat if you're on your way to Falarsana Beach (http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Attraction_Review-g1699518-d2276952-Reviews-Falasarna_beach-Chania_Prefecture_Crete.html).

Great Atmosphere - family like service, shaded area under the trees outside in the small town of Platanos near Flasarna/Kissamos. The waitress would serve up shots of ouzo or raki after the meal with us. Just a fun, relaxing and always friendly service.

Best Food in Greece - BEST GREEK SALAD EVER (and I've had a few around Greece). Uses his goat cheese made by his mother. Just an absolute delightful salad with the freshest ingredients. Somewhat like an agriturismo in that much of the ingredients that he serves are from HIS FARM. He credits his mother for the recipes and the cooking. The freshness and quality of the ingredients in everything served was as good as it gets. He serves many Greek specialties that were absolutely mouthwatering. (the Moussaka and Lamb in Oven were two of my favorite main courses). Always a veritable feast every night that we dined there.

Value - We couldn't believe our bill night after night when after an appetizer, salad (large), main course, bread, desert, and wine. 13-14 euros per person! An amazing value for what we ate. Granted we did share the desert and appetizers in a group of four

We stumbled upon this taverna driving back from the beach, and are so thankful we found this amazing restaurant and really experience. We enjoyed it so much that we went back for dinner 4 times and then once for his simple (anything but!) breakfast. The simple breakfast served for about 6 euros included a plate of his goat cheese, plate of fresh tomatoes, ham w/ cheese, bread, the most amazing homemade peach marmalade, honey from his farm, his mother's butter and of course delicious fresh squeezed orange juice.

I can't really recommend this place enough. I couldn't thank him enough when we left. If you are in the area, then you should go and enjoy Zaharias Greek cuisine!
