This Hostel which is situated in a very quite area, is a fantastic place to stay. It is very clean and tidy. The host was very friendly and helpful. The local hotel provided very good food at a reasonable price. My wife and my-self intend to stay there again on our next holiday in Ireland. We are both in our 60's and recommend this hostel to all.

We booked this place thinking it was a Bed and Breakfast. Well, you have brekfast, if you make one for yourself (there's a kitchen), but bring the ingredients along, too!

There's no noise insulation whatsoever, meaning that you will not be able to sleep until midnight, because you'll hear EVERYTHING that goes on around, including the conversation. Prepare for some brief wake-ups during the night, when people go to the toilet (this switches on the ventillator as well) and finally wake up at 6 am, when people in the other rooms start to come around.

In the bathroom there are no taps, just buttons, so you get water for 30 seconds and then you have to press again (supposed to be eco-friendly...). You cannot select shower temperature, it is given. Separate hot and cold taps at the sink (as usual. Seriously, someone, please explain them that mixed taps have been invented for decades!)

My worst experience in Ireland as to accomodation:(

Pat, the owner/manager was wonderful helpful and friendly. Beds are comfy enough with duvets and sheets and decent pillows included (no towels). Great communal kitchen and outdoor area. Lovely chilled, friendly vibe about the place. In a great location and surrounded by the quiet lanscape of the more wild Burren. Beautiful! Very close the the awesomely beautiful nature reserve - the red walking route a must (green and blue walking routes are on the same line but end earlier) - with a free hourly bus service back to the starting point! Perfumery also a great stop - lovely cafe there.

Room Tip: We had a 4 bed room. Rooms on the front would have better views.

Wow. Best hostel of my life, and I'm 62 so I've seen a few. Pat, the owner/operator is a true gem. The hostel is new, spacious, warm. The rooms are clean, with en suite and hot water supplied by solar heating, soon to be augmented by a wind turbine. The kitchen is huge, better equipped than some restaurants, and Pat supplies cereal, milk, jam and, if you're lucky, some of his own home baked bread.
There is an excellent reading/TV room and internet is available. There is even an outside chess patio with full sized pieces. It is centrally located in the Burren. Hint: Get the Burren Walking Trails Pamphlet from any tourist Info shop

Stayed here in the last month. The hostel is composed of two houses. Its basic, clean, immaculate and well equipped. The owner is very friendly and will give you loads of tips and recommendations. There is a pub pretty much across the road that does great food, has trad sessions and has a friendly cat (outside) and a sheepdog that will accompany you home if you wish. The location is right bang in the middle of the impressive limestone landscape that is Burren and very close to the Burren Perfumery that is well worth a visit.

Great base for our tour of the Burren in this ecofriendly hostel. We stayed in the self-catering accommodation, which was warm, comfy, well equipped and well managed with plenty of space for our group of 10.
The hostel is in a central location, which enabled us to take in some amazing aspects of this really special area. The Farm Heritage Tours were brilliant, the farmers were excellent communicators, each tour and each farm were very different in their diversity of landscape, heritage and management techniques - really interesting.
The local people’s friendliness and the information provided by the Burren Life Project Officers made for an amazing trip.
We had a lovely meal at Vaughan’s pub in Kilfenora (open through the week) and a good farewell evening at Cassidy’s Pub – which was closed through the week (we visited in late November). Thanks to our own project co-coordinator, without whom this trip wouldn’t have happened (Good job Rima!).
