Not bad but a bit pricey . . .

Stayed one night with the family. We were given an upgrade from a delux to one of the one bed villa. The room was clean and will decorated. Bed was good. All the staff were friendly and efficient. Food at the all day dining was quite good.

The only downside we experienced was the water. After a day out and coming back sweating, we were not able to have our shower as the water coming out of the tap was yellowish in colour....we have to let the water run for hours before we were able to use it.

The room rate was on the high side as well even compared to Bangkok hotel . . .

We stopped off here on our way back from Si Sawat. Lunch was excellent. Fresh fish, tasty curries and all manner of Thai food. Staff were very attentive. Service was quick and polite. Could of done with a sleep before getting on the bikes for the ride back to BKK. Great view of the river whilst eating lunch, and the staff set up three fans - it was fierce hot but we didn't want to sit inside. Some of the guys had been here several times and we took a wide detour to get to the place. Well worth it, and I'll go back. Might even use it as a base for touring the excellent Amphawa floating market

Amphawa is worth a stopover, especially during the week-end so you can see a real floating market and at the same time take advantage of a boat tour on the river to see fireflies. If you have not seen fireflies before, this is the place to do it. The website indeed gives a better impression of the hotel than the reality. Previous comment about the fact that there are local groups is correct, but this is not definitely disturbing. If you go there I would recommend that you choose the deluxe Thai style room, they are quite nice, even though pricy. In the morning at 08:00 hrs you are invited to do offerings to the monks by the river, which is nice. The riverfront part of the hotel is not very large, which is a pitty, and the restaurant lacks a little style. As such on our overnight there we decided to go and eat at the market. The hotel overall is ok, but would do with some attention to details, especially with tydiness of meeting facilities. Breakfast is OK, but do not expect a western 4-5 star set-up like in internationally managed hotels in Bangkok or Hua Hin.
Would probably stay again if I wanted to show the floating market to friends.

We stayed one night at this hotel on our way to Cha-am. It was about halfway from Bangkok and made for a pleasant drive. We had two rooms booked in the lead in category and where allocated two rooms opposite each other on the ground floor, meaning there was a room above us. This actually worked out well as there was steady rain at times which meant we could stay dry as the upper areas gave us a covered courtyard below. The resort is split into two areas, literally by the small local access road. The side near the river, where we stayed is made out to look like a traditional Thai village and the section on the other side of the road, where the reception was located is more modern Thai style and single level. Check in was smooth and efficent, I had booked via their website the day before and we where in our rooms very quickly. The rooms are basic but very clean and well maintained, something that can be lacking in Thailand. We appeared to be the only non Thai's staying and they did seem reasonably busy, with a small group staying. Wifi worked fine in the room as well. The spa was fully booked when my wife etc went for a massage and they only times free clashed with our firefly trip so I can't comment on it. However the staff where able to recommend another local spa so the ladies where happy. As mentioned by others the firefly trip is certainly worth doing as you visit the local market by boat which is interesting and not at all touristy in a western sense. Little English is spoken at the market but everyone is very helpful, many of the tourist there when we visited where Thai's also going out on boats later to see the firefly's. We rejoined our boat after about 2 hours (with some other Thai's from the hotel) and set of for an exciting ride on a dark river, at quite some speed at times, all wearing life jackets. The firefly displays where interesting, a bit like looking at Christmas lights, but half an hour or so was plenty. Back at the hotel we ate in the restaurant which was good local food, and the staff also dimmed the lights and served the birthday cake we had brought from Bangkok professionally. Breakfast was fine the next day, with a freshly cooked egg station, not gourmet selection but acceptable for a local Thai Hotel. Check out was smooth and efficient and all staff dealt with where very charming and helpful, regardless of the levels of English. Probably a one or two night max stay, but worth doing if you are looking for a cultural experience not too far from Bangkok, or to break a longer journey as we did.

I was travelling with my husband and parents on a small road trip around Thailand. We only stayed here for one night and arrived late afternoon so did not spend a lot of time at the hotel.
However, our check in was simple and straight forward. We were greeted with smiles and a golf buggy to transport us 30m from our car to reception! The rooms & bathrooms we booked were of good standard so nothing to complain out there.
The hotel is quite big and there were many empty rooms. The hotel is either side of a small road, with one side backing on to the river. This is where the restaurant is located and one of the two pools.
A friend recommended that we should book the firefly boat trip which we did. The best bit about this was that the boat stopped first at the Amphawa market which was full of locals and lots of interesting things to see. The firefly part of the trip was actually less interesting as there are only so many fireflies you can enjoy watching, but I would say that the boat trip is still worth doing and was the highlight of our stay.
We ate dinner in the hotel restaurant after the boat trip, this was almost empty but the food was above average so don't let the lack of people put you off!
Unfortunately breakfast was not so great. The English translation on the menu was unclear and we didn't get very far in trying to ask the staff what the choice was. The food we did get was fine but nothing amazing.
Overall the hotel met our needs as we were only passing through. I would not consider this hotel somewhere to stay for more than a few nights as it did have a conference centre feel to the place.
