“Excellent beautiful hotel”
Reviewed February 18, 2013 via mobile

We had a long weekend last Friday so a week before my wife booked the three of including our son for an overnight stay. That is after a leisurely day of shopping at Ingolstadt Village - which wasnt crowded on a Friday. There was sufficient parking space, Reception staff were helpful and friendly, and our "First Business Class" room was big enough for us. The sofabed was made up, the queensize bed was really big, and the toilet/bathroom was bigger than the usual. There was a terrace, the room looked tastefully modern, and the accoustics seemed pretty good as we hardly heard any noise. We reserved for dinner that evening, and so close to Valentine, it was full. But the service was good, dinner was great, and even reasonably priced. Biggest surprise for us was before dinner, we went to their Spa - which had all these cures and corners, but the 3 of us liked the jacuzzi, the heated indoor pool, and the heated outdoor pool. So much that we skipped the big Wohnemar Therme the next day. After a good breakfast, which at one point seemed a bit crowded, we headed for Westpark Shopping Mall, where the really big treat of its 140 shops was the rustic 1586 Brauhaus inside - which had really good Bavarian beers, schnapps, and brotzeit. All in all a perfect combination for a weekend stay in Ingolstad.

Room was alright, but 4 star it was not. Stuffy, the heating was on full blast on a gorgeous September day! Go figure. The service at the bar was messy, and totally impersonal. We were sitting outside and a member of staff took down the parasol that was right over me.... I had been sitting there for a purpose.... bar staff took a long time to wrongly fill the order. Breakfast alright. Would have preferred something less pretentious but better.

A really odd hotel in my view. Business class rooms look 'designer' but materials and finishes are actually very ordinary. Some deteriaoration already for example the shower enclosure is not very clean, with the shower taps and fittings not in good repair. My room had water temperature fluctuations in the shower (this is a theme in Ingolstadt for me) though a colleague next door had no problems. The bathroom was over hot even with the radiator switched off. I think a hot water pipe ran under the floor. This made for a stuffy room.

Storage was decidedly lacking, too. A few hangers, and no drawers at all. Mind you the huge TV was a plus, and plenty of channels. I didn't understand the flying pig in a glass case, but the safe underneath was unusual in Germany. Worse stocked minibar I've come across.

Dissapointed with the restaurant / bar food. Overfussy, and always served cold, as was the cooked breakfast stuff. Otherwise the breakfasts were fine though.

So, a hotel that thinks it's four star, but needs to up it's game if it wants to attract the kind of customers it's prices are amied at.

I choosed this room, because i thought its one of the best in/near Ingolstadt.
To be honest I'm really disappointed, cause the reception and entrance looks quiet nice. Inside the room (125 Euros, 2 people, 1 double room) i thought i will run away: old room, with yellow walls or rather the the wallpaper came undone the wall! The bathroom also: old and the heater was rusty, above were laying the towels!
The breakfast was lets say ok, the cooker who made the eggs wasn't there anymore (8:30).
About the wellness i can't say anything, the parking was in front of the hotel and for free.

Room Tip: I guess there are renovated rooms and non...ask for a new one.

My client's organisation based near Ingolstadt was able to negotiate 80 Euros per night B&B for business class rooms. This was fantastic accommodation at an unbelievable price which just goes to show that deals can be done. Bedrooms were quite superb with king size beds and all mod cons. The spa was first class with indoor and outdoor heated pools and sauna and steam rooms. I didnt try the massage and beauty treatments but these were available. Breakfast was plentiful and good quality, I didnt stay for dinner but the bar was good. Only negatives was the requirement to pay for WiFi (9 Euro for 24 hours) which irritated even more because poor bandwidth and slow download speeds. Television channels also very limited. This aside it is a great hotel especially if you can get the right rate.

Booked a non-smoking room but got one smelling strongly of smoke, was upgraded after some debate to a superior room which was really nice. Dinner ordered took more than 30 min to arrive and I had to leave for workshop, so no dinner that night - disappointing, rather unapologetic staff. No hot water available for tea for some time at breakfast, very busy atmoshpere there, quality of breakfast average. WLAN working well but €10 an hour - expensive - also free internet terminal in basement. Spa area looks great but had no chance to visit.
