“The Little Things Add Up”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 25, 2013

Booked this hotel direct from their website on the morning of travel as they were offering a great deal - 1 night accommodation, 2 course dinner and breakfast for £119.00.
Arrived fairly late in the evening due to the poor weather conditions and therefore could not try out the leisure facilities on offer. Unfortunately the restaurant wasn't open (it being a Sunday evening) so I ate in the "pub" style eatery. The food wasn't bad - nothing to complain about, but sticky tables and dirty glasses did nothing to enhance the dining experience. The staff were very friendly though. Room was lovely, bed comfy and everything was spotless. Breakfast was your average buffet style fayre with overcooked sausages, rubbery bacon and powdered scrambled egg. Unfortunately, the staff still seemed to be asleep - brought the coffee, but not the milk, brought the toast (cold), but not the butter etc. Upon checkout, I was charged seperately for the two course dinner and had to point out to the receptionist that this was included in the price. An honest mistake maybe? Due to this being a one night stay for business purposes, I probably didn't get the best of what the hotel has to offer. There were things that I felt could have been improved on but generally it was an ok experience for the money paid.

Dear Suzanne V

Thank you for taking the time to post a review following your recent stay with us.

Please accept our sincere apologies that elements of your stay where not up to standard, there is no excuse for this but I do know that on the night you stayed we had a number of staff unable to get into work due to the bad weather and so this may of caused some operations problems.

I was also disappointed to read your comments regarding breakfast as we usually get fantastic comments regarding our breakfast and service so I am sorry that on this occasion it was not up to our usual high standard.

Once again thank you for your feedback and I can assure you we will work hard to ensure that your experiences where a one off and we hope to welcome you back to the hotel at some point in the future.

Kind regards
Phillip

I stayed at the hotel for 3 nights while visiting the NEC. The rooms were lovely and newly refurbished. The food was ok. We arrived on the Sunday and we had to eat in the pub attached as it was the only place open for supper. There were 3 of us and it was hard to find anything that we wanted to eat which was a shame, however the restaurant on the Monday and Tuesday met our expectations. The only dissapointment was i tried to book a facial 3 eve's running and they never had any space which was a shame. A little gem if you are working at the NEC

Dear Shona C

Thank you for taking the time to write such a "Fab" review following your recent stay with us, we were delighted to read that you had an enjoyable stay whilst visiting the NEC on business.

I would like to assure you that we have recently updated our Hathaways menu and also now offer a number of seasonal specials so hopefully on your next visit you will find something you fancy to eat.

Also I would like to apologise for there not being any spa treatment times available, our spa is very popular and we do advise all guests to book treatments in advance to avoid disappointment.

We look forward to welcoming you back to stay with us on your next business trip.

Kind regards
Phillip

We had our wedding at this hotel, they could not have been more helpful, from booking the venue and which meal would be best for us, to looking after me on the day and making sure I had nothing to worry about.

Room Tip: Any room is good at this hotel

Stayed here for the 30th and 31st of December and were very impressed at the value for money we go in terms of room, food and service. The rooms were very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Very good food both days too and the spa area was very relaxing. The staff were polite and the location perfect as we did some shopping in the Bullring one day and it took no more than 15 minutes drive.

Only major downside which is kind of unrelated to the hotel was the entertainment on New Years Eve. The dancefloor was ridiculously small for the amount of people in attendance which was disappointing but even more so was the guy who sang and dj'd the evening. Considering New Years Eve is supposed to be a party at functions like this his choice of music and frequent cutting in to sing himself resulted in a dancefloor that kept emptying and a lacklustre atmosphere. Would love to go back next year providing there is a different Dj!

We booked this venue for my wifes birthay party (a special one) We had 68 guests , 26 who stayed overnight.Gemma our facilitator/planner was excellent and made sure that all aspects of the party were organised. She even arranged for a disco from an outside supplier, who "did wat it said on the tin" not only music but most songs had video clips and sub titles we could sing along to.She also advised us well on what the best way of organising the buffet (which again was excellent)
the guy that was the bar/catering supervisor in the room was very good and made sure that the food and toast where supplied at a time to suit us (we moverd them twice during the evening)
Many of the guests took advantage of the gym and pool facilities which they where pleased with.
However on a peasonal note I was dissapointed that I could not take my grandchildren in the pool before 9am on Sunday.
Overall the experience was excellent, particularly Gemma`s attention to detail.
Well done!

Room Tip: Just book any room . Our party had 14 rooms all very good (we went in all of them)

The staff at Lea Marston made this a most enjoyable and relaxing experience! From our initial meeting with Gemma, who showed us around the venue and handled our booking, to Alex, the duty manager on the night, who made sure everything ran smoothly without us having to lift a finger! Our guests noted the professional touches, efficiency and politeness of staff during the evening and the buffet food was delicious. Everybody had a wonderful time and we would recommend this venue for parties and celebrations. We also stayed at the hotel that night and enjoyed luxurious accommodation, beautiful spa and a super, full English breakfast. Thank you for making this a weekend to remember.
