My family and I return to Ireland every 18-24 months and one of our destinations is always Co. Clare where I lived for two years...Clare stays in your soul and dictates a heartbeat. Our favourite town to stay in has been Kilfenora. It is small, out of the way, serene, and every bit a true piece of the West of Ireland. This Gateway to the Burren is a must for all who seek simplicity and a traditional way of life, albeit for a short time.
We were recommended Burren Farm Cottages by a friend whom we had rented from in the past and we could not be happier for the recommendation!
We met Marian at her house where she then took us to Green Meadows cottage about a kilometer away. From the beginning her hospitality was wondrous and warm...the very epitome of a Bannerwoman as ever there was. The cottage was perfect...simple, well appointed, and charming. A great place not only to relax with the kiddos at night but as a base of operations from where to visit our beloved Clare and the West.
Marian was a gracious hostess and very giving...a wonderful conversationalist and incredibly knowledgeable.
Anyone who wants to get away and experience the wonder of the Burren from the comfort of one of its most idyllic of villages should definitely go to Kilfenora, stay at one of Burren Farm Cottages beautiful holiday lets, and immerse yourself in the best town to be among locals.

Had a lovely week in County Clare staying in the Green Meadows cottage. Marian was very welcoming and helpful and the cottage was well equipped. We enjoyed how remote it was and the close distance to so many sights!
We loved our trip to Clare and our stay with the Berrys. They were the perfect hosts - friendly, helpful and welcoming, and our cottage was comfortable, spacious and had everything we needed. Our kids loved milking the cows and hanging out with Buddy the dog, and we all enjoyed Marian's scones and peat fires on chilly evenings. The location is also excellent for visiting the Cliffs of Moher, the Aran Islands and the Burren National Park. We also enjoyed the many seaside towns dotted along the coast. Highly recommended!
We stayed in the Green Meadows cottage. It's a well equiped, 3 bed/2 bath cottage and we were comfortable. All the appliances worked well and as country cottage it was very quiet. This cottage is shown in the wrong place in Trip Advisor though...it's in the Burren just outside Kilfenora but the TA listing shows it as Oughterard (unless of course there are 2 places same name). Our host Marian was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and brought us home made scones and farm fresh eggs. When they learned we were golfing they offered to lend DH some clubs but he plays left handed. It's easy to visit Doolin, the Cliffs of Moher, Lahinch, and all the Burren sites from here. We did walks/hikes on 2 days which was really nice. The Burren landscape is amazing to see.
