When we arrived, i thought the place is too noisy and crowded. I forgot that its summer. The travel is just OK although the tricycle ride is dusty. Not advisable to take the tricyle at night. I like their food, thanks to their cook Mark. It is cheap and taste is great. The staff are very friendly. i noticed they maintain the cleanliness of the resort. You can see too many staff during the morning, cleaning. The rooms are clean. The ambiance is great for a person who is looking for a nice place to relax. Thanks to all the staff.

Went in a daytour with family 19 pax including 2 toddlers. We had to change plans from overnight to a daytour as we all had work and have no other weekends in april to travel with my dad who will be out of the country by the 21st we changed the plansfrom batangas to zambales at the recomendation of friends. The website looked promising so after soo many options this was were i chose to take my family. On the phone they answered questions but annie seemed impatient and tild me that everything is on the website.. When we got there, none of the staff bothered to check on us. They even implied " theyre only on day tour"
There were no water activities to avail. Considering it was a holiday and summer peak. They said no one is available to monitor the kayak so they cant rent it out. Good thing my cousins brought a volleyball. Ordering anything was a pain. My dad and uncle had to go to and from the reception/cafe to order AND get their beer. Our hut was oceanfront and the cafe was poolside. That was 7 trips to order. No one wanted to serve the beer to the huts because "theyre busy". Busy sitting in the room behind the reception area.
The bankero and his companion did not even bother to actually tour our group. They took us to an island and let us off not even talking abt where we were and where was a good spot to snorkel. We were taken near capones island and not ON capones to the lighthouse. We went snorkeling in the area where he did not even anchor the boat and it kept floating further from our group of which aside from the 2 toddlers also consisted of 6 teenagers from 12 to 16 yrs old in the waters of South China Sea. Both of them did not even assist in getting us on or off. And ine casually said after we mentioned something abt jellyfish, "ah yes there are some over there" my cousins scrambled toward the boat when he said that. We paid 3200 with only a couple of snorkel gears (half snorkel gear actually), unsafe life jackets and a half hearted island hop.

I had been to zambales many many times before, iba and subic and other towns. Our family even hopped to potipot way before it became popular. May i mention potipot is 6 hrs from manila but we had a wondeful time at dawal resort there that i had to go back and bring my team.

It is sad that canoe resort staff and boatmen cant even properly tour the visitors there. The islands and the view are well worth the visit. Its no el nido but if the people loved the islands and its waters as much as the people of el nido and other island destinatins do theirrespective town, they would hav given their visitors more reasons to go back and appreciate their place. The water beachfront was okay. but the water had lots of plastic and other trash, my cousins started picking them up and setting them ashore. Waves were strongbut we expected that. Alhough the staff wasnt even sure how deep and how strong the waves were because "theyv never swam inthe waters" It was so obvious that it was all abt the money. This and other resorts like them cause the decline of so many beautiful places before them.
The only thing that made evrything worth it was the time spent with family and the beautiful sunset.
It was such a disappointment. I will never go back.

Basic amenities, no corkage for food, inexpensive food/drinks, courteous staff, clean rooms, nice pool, nice room, nice mountain view, this place is just nice and simple and affordable. I like the fact that they change their staff at night to men instead of women, I felt more secured.

We stayed at Canoe Beach Resort for 2 nights 2nd week of March. We arrived at the resort around 1am, but we were welcomed warmly by the caretaker. We paid a tricycle driver Php30.00 to lead us to the resort because it was so dark on the street and it looked so eerie at midnight. There are no lampposts at the resort at night, so without the single flashlight carried by the caretaker, we were in total darkness.
We reserved 3 rooms. 2 rooms good for 4pax and 1 room good for 2pax. Room M at the corner end of the pool has several dead cockroaches in the comfort room. When we asked for a broom and dustpan, we were given one immediately. All the 3 rooms have a ceiling fan and aircon which work fine. It’s cold! They turn off the aircon at exactly 11am on the checkout day. When all people use the shower all at the same time, be prepared to use the timba (pail) and tabo (water dipper) to clean up, as no water will come out of the shower. If you like a restful night, do not get rooms near the beachfront because you can’t sleep with the people singing in their videoke. They were really LOUD!
We paid Php300.00 for the use of their electricity for our rice cooker, Php30.00 for each plastic of coal, Php450.00 cooking charge for adobong pusit (squid) and sinigang na isda (which are absolutely delicious)! We bought the fresh seafood from our island hopping at Silangen. They let us keep our food in their freezer free of charge.
For an overnight stay, we were given 1 roll of tissue, 1 mini soap, and 2 towels for each room. You have to ask for them; otherwise, they will not provide any.
The staffs and the caretaker are very friendly and accommodating, so it compensated for the dead insects and lack of water from the shower.
They do not reply immediately from my email inquiry, but I was entertained properly when I called up their Manila office. For budget travelers like me who doesn’t want to camp out in the island, it’s money worth spent here at Canoe Beach Resort.

Room Tip: Room L by the pool is cleaner and has a new aircon compared to Room M. If you want to sleep earlier...

This resort is ideal for barkada beach tripping. The more the merrier. You can bring your own food and you can arrange for a do-it-yourself grilling activity. But if you ain't got much time to prep for eats, they have a resto for your dine-in or take out pleasure (when going for island hopping). Nice place to relax but weekends seem to be a lil bit more busy than before as this resort is becoming a popular inn for island hoppers.

PRICE - budget accommodation

STAFF - very friendly and accommodating

ACCOMMODATION - clean w/ toiletries (for aircon rooms)

ACTIVITIES - island tour (nagsasa, anawangin, camara, capones), fishing (saw groups with fishing rods) surfing (not so much), drinking till you drop (do it well to enjoy)

SECURITY - the resort is secure and with 24hr security personnel

I'd say Canoe beach resort is one of the better choices when planning a visit to Pundaquit. If you're looking for a mid-range priced hotel with simple clean rooms, i guess this would be the place.

We were a group of 8 and decided to have 2 rooms that could accomodate 4 each at 3000 per room, it was reasonable considering the distance from the beach (only a few steps away) and the use of the pool. The rooms didn't have television, but we didn't really miss it beacause we were out most of the time. They provided us towels, but only two per room. You would have to pay 50 per extra towel. They can also cook meals for you but don't expect great food. It was easy enough to find a boat to take us island hopping because it was very near the beach.

I did have a bit of an issue regarding the implementation of their policies. Outside our room we were a having a few drinks and chatting (not loudly) by 12 midnight we were asked if we could stay inside so we wouldn't disturb the other guests, it was understandable, however at around 3am a few of our neighbors we shouting and getting rowdy by the pool.

Aside from minor issues, overall we had a good stay, i do recommend canoe when travelling as a family, all videoke activity and noise stops at around 11 so if you're lucky enough to have decent neighbors, you'll have a good night's rest.

Went here with friends Years ago.. Great thing about the place is they have a pool but it isnt that great but still good since Pundaquit's beach is not that pretty. There's nothing much to do here other than island hopping. We stayed at the dormitory room with Bunk beds. Airconditioning sucks. We were all 14 and theres just one AC unit and not working well. If youre just looking for a place to stay for the night, i recommend this place but if you plan to stay here the whole time, you wont like it. Just my two cents. :)

went here 2010.
