“Gem of a restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 8, 2014

I read the menu downstairs with my husband and chose to eat elsewhere when 2 friends walked in. So we decided to stay and went upstairs to a charming setting. I realise now, I didn't quite understand the menu. Our friends did... We each ordered a dish, but they were all put in the middle and we all shared. The food was fabulous; we tasted all sorts of new things our friends ordered, and by the time we finished everything, I was quite satisfied. A little bit of a lot of things is filling!! We enjoyed the afternoon immensely. The food is very good, the ambience warm and inviting, and the service was excellent.

“County”

Serendipity; looking for Sunday lunch in Morpeth, and ventured upstairs in the Arnott's bakehouse building. Lovely, friendly welcome from the staff, wonderful atmosphere, and beautifully prepared and served food. We both had scallops with bacon jam and pureed Jerusalem artichokes, a radicchio and fetta salad, followed by the MOST delicious gramma tart (haven't eaten that for over 50 years!). My other half chose a steely pinot grigio from the region around Venice, which not only complemented the food, but reminded us of drinking similar wines in Italy. Beautifully mellow espresso concluded the meal. I must, however give a word of warning - DO NOT eat your slice of Morpeth bakehouse sourdough with unsalted butter while waiting for your meal - save it to sop up the delicious sauces and /or salad dressing. Can't wait to go back.

“It was so relaxing”

The menu is different - however, the staff are very helpful and once you read over everything, the fact that you can share plates is fantastic and I absolutely loved this.

“Fantastic!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 21, 2014

Four of us had dinner here on a Saturday night recently. Opted for the $75.00 p.p. menu, shared plates. Food was excellent, a really wonderful experience. Service excellent and informative regarding the plates of food. Nice ambience up stairs on the verandah with heaters on.
