Have stayed a number of times most recently Jan 2013. The hotel has very good facilities and is best suited to families and groups. Have stayed both for a holiday and for business & one conference.

Positives: Spacious gardens, large recreational areas (especially for kids to run around), good sized rooms & villas, well-designed & maintained golf course, large very nice pool, reasonable gym (small), spacious poolside bar/restaurant area. The Tea Tree Spa is fabulous - staff and service there is top notch. Expensive but worth it.

On the downside: food in the downstairs bar area needs badly to improve in quality. Ordered there on four separate days and all the food was poorly prepared, no care given to the quality, eg French fries undercooked, burned hamburger, dry pizza for a $16 price tag. Salad was just leaves and some whole tomato thrown onto the plate. Seriously? It takes effort to be consistently mediocre. Management take note: a hotel of this calibre really needs to have high quality and varied food offerings particularly since there's not much around nearby. Ate at Red Salt one evening and food was expensive and disappointingly average. Some staff were really great while others behaved as if they didn't want to be there. Waited 30 minutes to get the check with some staff standing around chatting. Customer service needs a good polishing.

As a business traveller any hotel that doesn't offer free wifi these days is in a time warp.

Once the food/customer service issue is addressed the Crowne will be right up there as a quality resort experience.

We stayed at the resort as part of a group of 6, sharing a 3 bedroom villa.
The rooms were excellent, there was a bathroom for the 2 downstairs rooms and an ensuite for the upstairs bedroom. The villa included a generous sitting room and an eating area with table and seating for 6 together with a well provisioned kitchen. We could not have asked for more.
The resort has a range of eating options including a limited in room menu. The bars are well located and give several options of style.
The recreational facilities are great, there are tennins courts, golf, a huge outdoor pool (heated) and spa as well as a gym (however the gym could do with a little work as some of the machines were not in great condition).
It is well located in the heart of the Hunter wine region.
All up this was a great place which we really enjoyed.

Stayed for 3 nights in 2 bedroom villa. Given ground floor and preferred one with two balconies so one could sit outside in the shade (or sun) at any time. When contacting reception our request was granted without question. Had problem with setting air conditioning (my incompetence not theirs) and reception staff were there in minutes to resolve. Great service and all done with a smile. Spacious villa. Internet in business centre open 24 hours per day at no cost a big plus (extra for wi-fi in room). Only eat once in restaurant which was fine as we used cooking facilities in villa which was also good. Did npt use swimming pool which is good size but perhaps a separate adult pool would be a good addition. Enjoyed our stay. ("Two Fat Blokes Gourmet Wine Tour" recommended for Hunter Valley Wine Tour).

It was a shame to depart after a 2 day stay.
Certainly one does not have to leave the resort as there is an abundance of activities to be had within the grounds. And although it was holiday time and the resort was very busy there was a calm, relaxing air in all corners of the hotel. With several places to dine, quiet corners to sit and read, play chess or draughts with the giant boards on the balcony or enjoy group activities it seems that boredom cannot be associated with Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley.
The pool is fabulous although if you are keen on lap swimming I recommend that you take advantage of the early mornings or swim under the stars in the evening. For those looking for something more adventurous than the ping pong tables, the hotel has a range of bikes for hire and detailed maps for cycle excursions, or try out the SegueWays. And of course there is golf.
A heavenly bed ensured a good nights sleep with all the quietness of being in the counttryside. Remember to pull back the curtains so you can lie in bed and watch the stars until slumber arrives.
There are staff in all areas ready to assist and it is a very productive operation that seems to run efficiently for the guests needs. Clean rooms, clean venue, spacious spots to relax and a team of chefs 24hour a day.
Yes it is a great place for families but also for solo travellers and couples. It seemed that regardless of age or mobility there was an 'air of comfortable' about each guest. Thanks for the stay

My husband, 6 month old baby and I spent 2 nights at the CP.

The room was a typical hotel room with king size bed, decent size bath, balcony and average TV and fridge. My only complaint was the fridge was stinky and the smell went through our water bottles from a previous guest storing something odd in it.

The weather was extremely warm during our stay. The air con was perfect and you could have a cocktail or snack upstairs or down near the pool. The pool was busy but clean and nice.

We went for an evening walk around the golf course and the villas look like a great place to stay with a group or family.

Red Salt served up a good meal and was busy every night. We declined the breakfast buffet but again it was packed.

Overall, I was pleased to see local staff that seemed to like their job and actually smile like they meant to. Decent customer service and I would happily return to stay at Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley.
