Open from 8.30am til 3.30pm we found breakfast, which is served til 11.30am to be the best and most varied available,if u wanted extra ,no problem,if u wanted to substitute something,no problem. Staff were very friendly and cafe well run, meals came out to table quickly and atmosphere was very relaxing, scenery was panoramic. I would highly recommend visiting while in the Hunter Valley.

“A top setting for good weather...”
Reviewed September 2, 2013

Four of us went there for lunch on a beautiful sunny day but because of the cold wind decided to sit inside. The food varied: the spring rolls and corn fritter dishes were to die for, the two steak dishes were not to die for and were slightly chewy but certainly very tasty. The coffees were excellent.

One addition comment. We arrived at midday, the second group there, and noticed the manager / owner speaking with a colleague. We would have expected him to visit our table and say Hi and welcome us as a common courtesy. Especially when we have met him previously at his other two restaurants.

“Average cafe in a lovely setting”
Reviewed August 31, 2013

I had heard positive things about The Deck Cafe and was keen to try their breakfast out. Perhaps Fathers Day wasnt the best day to pick but while busy, it wasnt out of control.

We were seated quickly and offered coffees (one was wrong but all good) and a jug of water. Not too long after we ordered our food with a couple of simple changes and a reminder for the jug of water. Quite soon after our dishes arrived...changes incorrect and water ordered for a third time.

Food was quite average - both myself and my partner ordered a big breakie for $22 which would have been fine had it been cooked right. Poached eggs were overcooked, sourdough burnt (so much so I could smell it off the plate) and homemade hash brown dry and overcooked. Not sure how all this happened with 4 chefs in the kitchen. However the bacon was delicious and their homemade bbq sauce was lovely. Water arrived finally!

Relaxing atmosphere, wonderful grounds and friendly staff. Cellar door made up for an ordinary breakie.
