“Lovely Food and Great Atmosphere”
Reviewed August 15, 2014

A lovely lunch was had at Wandin Bar and Diner. Food was amazing (particularly loved the Wagyu Sliders and the Squid). Wine was also good. I regret not buying some, but as we are from abroad we were unable to take any with us.

“I must have been at a different restaurant!”
Reviewed July 12, 2014

Just read other reviews and am confused - recently went on a Friday night to the bar at top of property and it was terrible (assume this was the diner?) arrived to be seated, on a cold winter night, placed on the outside deck covered with plastic blinds that allowed cool air in. Was then told 2 of their 3 heaters had run out of gas, the 3rd being close to a couple at a table in corner - not sure why they didn't sit us together...(1 may have cut it, but a big pointer to poor management in my view, especially as we booked well in advance). Apart from chicken not quite cooked, the food was actually very good. However had to ask for things several times, several of our water glasses had bad chips around top. Should have smelt a rat when noticed hardly anyone there for school hols on a Friday night. Apols to other reviewers however I'll wait for new management before considering any return to this place!

“Interesting menu choices but inflexible staff”
Reviewed July 8, 2014 via mobile

We were staying here for a wedding and a couple of us have specific dietary requirements including Gluten free, options for which were highlighted on the menu. On the Friday evening I choose the garlic and chilli prawns, which were served with ordinary bread. The place was relatively full and atmosphere lively, but quite noisy. On the Saturday morning we arrived at 1045am for a snack or late breakfast or early lunch, but had to be satisfied with coffee and toast, with no gluten free options.... We had an early afternoon wedding at the Wandin Valley Estate, and had been looking for something light to tide us over. So, I was disappointed overall.

“Great Find 1 1/2 hours from Sydney”
Reviewed June 8, 2014

Needed to find a place to meet a friend for lunch which wasn't going to send either of us broke! Not so easy when it comes to dining in the vineyards but we hit the jackpot with this lovely vineyard and restaurant.
Beautiful entry gates into the estate and picturesque winding driveway through the vines all the way to the end of the road where the cellar door tastings are and the "diner"

Good service at the cellar door with some local cheese for sale as well as gelato . Friendly staff conducting the tastings with good product knowledge . Wines started at $25 a bottle. Try the Moscato , it was divine! A short walk up stairs takes you to the "diner" we chose to sit outdoors in the sun and look over the vines. Service was prompt and friendly. The food is Tapas style with a serving consisting of four portions to share or they will do a two person serving for half the price . The beef sliders were amazing with the beet root relish and blue cheese as was the twice cooked pork belly. Prices are very reasonable . Dessert was the banofee pie and the mascarpone and passion fruit tart. Personally the pie was the better of the two with its richness being broken up with a yummy coffee syrup .

The ground are lovely to stroll around and there is accommodation on the estate but I can't comment on that as we didn't stay overnight . There was also a afternoon wedding by the dam with beautiful winter sunlight reflecting off the water . Looked lovely . All in all worth a drive from the city . Will be going back!!!

“Delicious divvy dishes”
Reviewed June 7, 2014

Have ate at Wandin for dinner & more recently lunch and it has been enjoyable everytime :-)
The divvy dishes are a great idea (tapas style share plates) and don't worry you won't go hungry here as the portions are quite big in size.
Beautiful big deck to sit out on and soak up the view , it is closed in with plastic curtains during winter so kept nice and warm.
Great beer & wine menu to compliment all the delicious dishes (try the mango beer!!)
