“Pleasant surprise”
Reviewed May 10, 2013

We had been to this place several times over the past ten years with varying satisfaction but not since it changed ownership about 18 month ago.
Now the menu consists of "divvy dishes" - dishes to share with your fellow diners. All dishes are reasonably priced and serve four. When dining as a couple "half servings" are available at half price. With one or two choices for entrée and three to four choices for mains you'll be satisfied but can still handle a dessert.
All dishes are very nicely presented and the taste is very good. Service is friendly and attentive.
The restaurant has a relatively small inside dining area but a larger "al fresco" dining space on a balcony - protected with transparent wind screens - overlooking the vineyard. The wine list has Wandin wines - again reasonably priced and good quality.

“Great Food and Service”
Reviewed May 6, 2013

This is a great little restaurant and should be tried by all when you next visit the Hunter. The Lunch menu is Tapas and the variety is incredible. The chef is brilliant. Have been there twice now and have left extremely satisfied on both occassions. Service is great also.

“A hidden gem”
Reviewed April 29, 2013 via mobile

We have been visiting the Hunter Vaey for years and have heard about Wandin Restaurant but never made it there.

We ended up going a few weeks ago. The location with nice views from the balcony. The service was spot on. The waitress was on top of everything. Of course food is important and I thought it was one of the best tapas places in the Valley. All the dishes were perfect. Highlights wagyu sliders, lamb cutlets that melted in your mouth, seafood risotto, and salmon and crab rolls. After lunch you can roll next door to Wandin Cellar door which has great wines and great staff Kathryn is a laugh.

I don't think it will take so Long before our next visit.

“Share Plate Splendor!!!”
Reviewed April 28, 2013

Sometimes when you go to a restaurant, and you just can't decide what you would like, because there are so many dishes that appeal but unfortunately its 'one main meal' as the option... well not here!!! At Wandin Wine Bar & Diner all the dishes are made for sharing, and if you want to increase the number of plates to sample, ask the waitress for half serves!!! This will allow you to choose 4-5 dishes to share as a couple. Recommended!

“Surprisingly good”
Reviewed April 28, 2013

This property was a part of a wine tour we visited and I have to say, walking into the restaurant was a huge dissapointment - the decor or lack of is almost like walking into a run down pub. But the girl that looked after us was really great. I could tell she was reciting informaiton she had been given but she really connected with us and seemed very confident. She was informative and the food was really good. I loved loved loved her suggestion to enjoy a glass of their moscato with ice and lemon - it was so refreshing.

The cellar door is lovely and decked out beautifully so I cannot imagine why the restaurant is so old and run down. But saying that - this was my favourite place to visit during our entire winery tour - just goes to show, they don't need all of the sparkles and jewels to make a visit special - its about the people, the wine and the food. Well done Wandin - you turned my first impression into my fabvourite!
