Owner description: The Tatler Hotel opened in 1902. It was at the Tatler Hotel on the 8th of August, 1907 that J.J. Giltinan formalised Australia's first Rugby League Competition. In it's heyday The Tatler Hotel was a favourite haunt of rugby league players, colourful racing identities, popular radio personalities and the creme of Sydney society. For it's last 13 years the Tatler Hotel was owned and operated by the Izakidis family until it finally closed its doors in April 1986. 12 years later the Izakidis resurrected the Tatler name as a new vineyard in the Lovedale region of the Hunter Valley. The tradition continues..... The Tatler Cellar door looks at the majestic Brokenback Range and has a range of 13 wines available for tasting.

We went for lunch. the concept is sharing plates. Food was lovely and reasonable in price thin we paid about £29 each but ate loads. Remember to book ahead.

My friends picked this venue as one of their faves and I have to say it was lovely sitting outside enjoying lovely Hunter wine and beautiful views. Having said that the best thing was the food! Absolutely fantastic tapas style menu with almost too many mouth watering dishes to choose from.

Standouts were the arancini and the beef.

Service was great too. Five Stars for simple enjoyment.

I ate in the restaurant last weekend. The explanation for the "shared plates" was precise. The food was moorish. The beetroot, artichoke and goats cheese salad was particularly yummy. The timing of the shared plates was perfect. Well done to the chefs and table staff.

Visited this winery during the Lovedale Long Lunch and think the Sparkling Shiraz was the pick of the wines during the day.
Well worth a visit for this wine alone....
