“A quiet and relaxed atmosphere”
Reviewed March 22, 2013 via mobile

Lovely surroundings with an unrushed, relaxed atmosphere set the tone for the evening.
I was not dissappointed with either the food or the service, it was all great.
Because they are located in the Hunter Valley the wine list is as good as you would it to be.

“Great restaurant, lovely food”
Reviewed January 13, 2013

First of all: you wont find this restaurant in any of the guides and booklets available in Hunter Valley.... and you won't just pass by it, as there is it rather on the edge of Hunter Valley.

This is definitely a fine dining restaurant; so keep that in mind.
We were there on a Thursday eve; and there were only 3 tables booked (6 clients in total); so there was only 1 staff in the restaurant and only 1 cook in the kitchen. That was no problem btw.

The Menu, which you can find online, had about 4 or 5 choices for a starter and a main. The courses are big enough, so you will be fine with the 2 or 3 course menu.
The dishes were very tasty and had a very nice combination of ingredients. All the ingredients added to the overall taste and were perfectly cooked. The wine pairing, for about 10 AUD per 10cl glass was fine as well.

Having only 3 table in the restaurant (which can hold like 12 -15 tables), did not really add to the 'Vibe'; but that is not something you can do much about to be honest. What I did think which was a bit strange is the following. From our table we could see in the kitchen (there is a window). We saw that the cook/owner had time enough to disappear from the kitchen for 5 -10 minutes at a time. Well, when you have only 3 tables out there and you clearly have some time, why don;t you come out and have a quick chat with your clients. From the 3 tables, at least 1 were returning clients (it was rather easy to overhear conversations, as you can imagine); so, when you have returning clients, it is quite important to keep them happy right?

O yeah, on the Kangeroos. We saw some at the estate as well, but about 3 estates back, there were about 25 kangeroos is a group. So, if you want to see them, just drive on Wilderness road when it is still light, and you'll be fine.

After dinner we went back 2 estates to Bluebush Estate, which was absolutely lovely (and well priced).

“Great food and wonderful service”
Reviewed January 7, 2013 via mobile

This review is about the restaurant where we had dinner.

The restaurant had an unimposing exterior which didn't look like anything special, but inside it was a haven of tranquility. Rather than a single large room of diners which can get noisy, the space was broken up by a central 4 way wall which made for a much more intimate dining experience.

My partner is vegetarian and although it wasn't listed on their website, they have an alternative vegetarian menu. Service was attentive but not overly fussy - some may see this as slow but I think it's just because the food is prepared fresh. Be patient, relax and enjoy the wine and atmosphere.

For 2 main courses, 1 shared dessert and 3 glasses of wine the bill was $140.

“Excellent Evening Dinner!”
Reviewed January 6, 2013

We went to Mojo's on the recommendation of the Cafe proprietor at the Gartlemann Cellar Door, and were not disappointed.

We selected the three course meal with accompanying wines, priced at $103 each, and had a great dining experience. We both had the same dishes (though we could have chosen quite different dishes and their accompanying wines), which is quite unusual for us.

For starters we had Seared scallops with crisp chorizo, fennel puree and salsa verde accompanied by a very nice Adina 2010 Pinot Grigio, for mains we had Beef fillet wrapped in prosciutto with sautéed lyonnaise potatoes, field mushroom and thyme sauce, accompanied by a Gartlemann 2007 Shiraz, and we finished off with Crème Brulee with blood orange sorbet and honeycomb, accompanied by a Margan 2009 Semillon Botrytis (this wine was so good that we bought some the next day).

The food was well presented, was all cooked to perfection and was simply delicious. The accompanying wines were poured from the bottle at the table and while the wine serves were indicated at 100ml in the menu, the actual amount poured was in excess of this. The wines were all from Hunter Valley wineries and were an excellent choice to complement each dish.

The only small negatives were the service, which while friendly and attentive, was somewhat slow as there was only one person serving, and the outlook, which was pretty much non-existent. However the quality of the overall dining presentation, food and wine more than made up for those small shortcomings.

Highly recommended

Presentation, quality and taste is always consistently excellent - one of the very best in the Hunter vineyards. Great atmosphere and very professional table service.
