Creel, Mexico was our first overnight stop of an 8-day package tour bound for the Copper Canyon that started and finished in El Paso, Texas.
Pedro, our tour guide told us not to expect 5 star at the Hotel Villa Mexicana, which really was more like a Kid’s Summer Camp. However, it turned out to be a lot of fun and each couple were allocated a log cabin with all the mod cons including TV, rocking chair, veranda and two big (though lumpy) beds.
Also there was a bathroom in each cabin. Plus a small table, two stools and a coffee-maker. Really, the cabin was a pretty decent size when compared with a 5 star guest room, but it was just a little bit rough around the edges. “Rustic” is definitely the best word to describe them.
Hey, it was clean, quiet and we both slept well with no complaints.
Both dinner that night and breakfast the next morning were served in the property’s “La Cantina”. No complaints there either, and all of our 45-strong tour group seemed to enjoy this short overnight stay. Unlike the previous reviewer, we did have plenty of hot water and did not experience the rude manager. In fact, all the staff were very courteous and friendly.
