“Not what you would expect (a tourist perspective)”
Reviewed January 4, 2014

We spent the night at a bed and breakfast in Bampton and walked the tiny village. We were fortunate that the library was open the next day. As we entered a room to the left we were greeted by a lovely older lady who asked if we were there to see the art. She was a little disappointed that we were just Downton Abbey tourists but was very pleasant and shared her experiences of the filming and actors. It was. I'm sure, more informative than any written info. we could have found. We loved talking to her and I think she enjoyed someone to talk to. We didn't see a single book in the library but we learned more than any book could have taught us! If you are Downton Abbey fans this town is a must!

“Downton Abbey village scene location”
Reviewed September 27, 2013

We were wandering this cute town still unseemingly touched by tourism and found this library (near the church) that was used as the hospital in Downton Abbey. It was closed that evening so we went back the next morning hoping for some more insight into the show. The librarian was there in the art gallery section of the library ( I think the book section opened later) and in the corner was a little card table with some Downton Abbey knick knacks on it. The librarian was super nice and spent some time telling us about Downton Abbey and where they filmed the scenes in the town.
