“Not a fancy park but good interaction with wildlife”
Review of Parndana Wildlife Park - CLOSED

This is not a glamorous zoo. But the low-key setting somehow works on Kangaroo Island. Lots of birds and of course, the chance to get up close and personal feeding the kangaroos.

Parndarna Wildlife Park is one place where the name does not necessarily describe the place. The park is easy driving from most accommodation along bitumen road. After paying a small fee $12, we headed off with a tattered map and a bag of Kangaroo feed to explore. The park is more like a menagerie filled with wonders. male Peacocks presenting their feathers to the females. Gobbling Male turkeys, Birds of all kinds and colors. But..the KI kangaroos stole the show. You can feed them by hand. They are so gentle they even hold your hand while you feed them. Some small children put their arms around these creatures for that special photo. Just enchanting. If you can get to Kangaroo Island you must get to Parndarna Wildlife Park.

This is definately one of the best wildlife parks I have ever seen.
My lovely wife as well as my brother and his wife who were here on holidays from Switzerland absolutely loved it. Well done, keep up the excellent work.

Living on the Island, I sometimes take my grandchildren to visit Parndana Wildlife Park, where they delight in some of their longer term favourites, like Stanley the Sulphur Crested Cockatoo, and where they love to see newly rescued animals and birds.
This is not a formal zoo, or a free range park, but a place where injured and orphaned creatures are nursed, rescued, and lovingly cared for. Enclosures are clean and neat, and always have clean water and correct foods.
We so need places like this, and it is also really good to be able to see animals up close, and to feed some of them too.
I have also taken a joey there, content that it would be safe and well cared for. You can buy an icecream or drink, and souvenirs, or enjoy a picnic or BBQ in thoughtfully provided and immaculately presented picnic areas .
