“Way overpriced”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 14, 2013 via mobile

I think the difference between a Michelin 1 star restaurant and a Michelin 3 star restaurant is only the price. We didn't find the meal to be extraordinary as we were expecting from this 3 star restaurant, and everything was very expensive for what it was. There were many people working in the kitchen (about 15 people) and also serving (about 8). It seems as if the extremely high cost of the dinner pays for these employees.
Unfortunately, we have to say that we were disappointed in our dining experience and that it was not worth the money.

“It doesn't get better than this”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 22, 2013

In a world in which celebrity chefs manage culinary empires from Beijing to Las Vegas, George Blanc stays at home in the kitchen and serves sublime food to a dining room full of lucky guests basking in the warmth of the chef and his team. His cuisine is traditional yet imaginative and executed with perfection. Service is flawless. If you go to only one Michelin 3 star, this should be it.

“Not what it used to be...”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 3, 2013

We went there on a special weekend trip all the way from Geneva. We stayed at the Georges Blanc Hotel which was impeccable. The restaurant however, not so much.
Although the welcome was warm, as the night went by we realized, service was not what one would expect of a restaurant of such standing. (I had to request my wine to be poured twice) We waited for long periods of time between courses and all in all despite best effort from one of the servers it was definitely not what one would expect. Food was average. Nothing extraordinary, the price was not justified or corresponding to three MIchelin stars. I don't think we'll be going back anytime soon.

“A must do French classic”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 3, 2013

Georges Blanc isa 3 Michelin stars restaurant located in a very tiny village between Bourg-en-Bresse, Macon and Lyon. This is the perfect stop on the way to the Southern Cote d'Azur or to the snowey Alps.
For me, it is the best restaurant in my home area. I really enjoyed how the chef promote and sublime the local products like crayfish, or the unique Bresse chicken. You can find 3 menus and a short carte, but you do not need more. Cooking, flavors, textures, sauces, were absolutely perfect! Amazing!... the craziest thing is that, even after 3 days, I still have in my mind and my palate the vin jaune and saffron sauce served with the lobster,... It is once in your life experience! Do not miss it!

“Not worth even one Star!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 21, 2013

A total disgrace. The room, for Eur 400, was far below from what we should have expected. The George Blanc imperium should be ashamed. The food, some more or less ok, was also below expectations. The amount of personnel was short. They had to run for their lives! Not enough time to poor the wine etc etc etc. Unbelievable. Even after making a complaint at the reception of in written you never hear anything.
