“Welcome to The world of George Blanc!”
Reviewed January 27, 2013 via mobile

This is what Vonas is all about... a small village entirely dedicated to George and its wonderful cuisine. Everything has been said about it... so what can we say, we went there 20 years ago and I had wonderful memories, so it's always risky to go for a second time: but I was wrong, as good as 20 years ago and this is a challenge in itself at this level. Georges came tea out able during the dinner and we had a long discussion, he really cares about his business and is always on top. Make it last for ever!

We have been to this restaurant a few times already and have always liked the elegant yet cosy atmosphere. Together with the impeccable service and the fantastic food it provides a great dining experience.

“I am writing about the Ancienne Auberge of Georges Blanc”
Reviewed December 22, 2012

this is a classic place run by Blanc, a copy his great grandmother's original restaurant; the whole town of Vonnas has been turned into a Village Gourmand and it is wonderful. the lighting of the old monuments in typical bressan architecture is very successful. This restaurant is NOT EXPENSIVE and has classic local cooking done like no one alive cooks it. The inexpensive menu on our Groupon included a fabulous, and I mean it, quenelle de brochet, so full of taste, it puts all others to shame. Liked the other main course too, a crepinette of chicken with a rich sauce. The only tiny fault might be a few pieces of cartilage in the mixture. The desserts (Paris-Bresse, ha-ha) were classic, rich but PERFECT. Almost makes one long for the good old days. The baba was not au rhum but in an original manner imbibed with limoncello and served with white raisins. Perfection. A red wine to recommend: Cotes du rhone St Agathe made by Vernay.

“The Best, Simply The Best”
Reviewed November 20, 2012

With all the hype, we were prepared for a let down, but after staying at the hotel and dining here three times, we can agree that this place is without parallel. Our view may well be influenced by the grand and charming accommodations, and the presence of our close friends, with much gaiety and laughter to add to the experience. However, looking closely at the restaurant standing alone leaves us wanting to return time and again. It is charming, elegant and oh so lovely from the sure and gracious service to the astonishingly delicious offerings. We were particularly struck by the minute de bar suavage- transluscent folios bathed in butter, oil and herbs married in a perfect combination of textures and flavors. Magnifique! Other joys are found in the homard aux trois saveurs, the Bresse chicken with fois gras and champagne and the St. Jacques. The crepes vonnassienne appear at the table as a little gift from the chef- and are a delight. The wine list is magnificent and fairly priced. The sommelier will offer suggestions for every budget and will always find a great wine to match your choices. Go and go again.

“Worth the trip for our kids”
Reviewed August 20, 2012

We dined at the 3 Michelin Starr restaurant this August, together with our two girls aged 10 and 12. The staff made us feel very welcome and during dinner mr Blanc highlighted the importance of appreciating gourmet cuisine. We tried oysters (a character test for the girls), frog legs (rebaptised to chicken bits) and an absolutely astonishing poulet de bresse. The pré desserts and a gourgious dame blanche killed of mc donalds forever.
