Ogulin and its two artificial lakes and a mystic mountain ideal for all types of hikers was a pleasant surprise! The hotel is definitely not up to the 4-stars standard, but the rooms are very comfortable, location is perfect and nature outstanding.
But the biggest assets of this hotel are the restaurant (FOOD IS EXQUISITE!!! and at reasonable prices; just a note: 50 types of pancakes) and the very friendly staff. We stayed there beginning November for our wedding anniversary and recommend this hotel warmly.

We booked this hotel as a stop off between the coast and Zagreb. It was not up to a 4 star standard. The rooms were small and very old fashioned. The air conditioning was not working and although it was cool enough to open the windows the noise from traffic outside was unbearable. The courtyard area was particularly uninspiring and ugly. The meal in the evening was ok with good service, however breakfast was terrible. We arrived at 8.55 - breakfast was not supposed to finish until 9.30 but there was very little still available on the buffet. We had to ask for more bread rolls, which the staff did get but also said breakfast had finished. The fruit juice was not fresh and the coffee was from a machine.
We did not get much chance to see the town but it did not seem to have much to offer - a lot of concrete block buildings.
This hotel would be fine as long as you do not have 4 star expectations. They did offer a small discount when we complained about the air conditioning and the traffic noise.

Room Tip: Ask to be away from the main road.

Great place in a fantastic small town off the normal tourist route. Free parking or a few minutes walk to train station. Excellent dinner and breakfast, room very clean and comfortable. Nice rural area nearby and less than an hour to Zagreb

Room Tip: Ask for view of town square

Stay away from this "hotel".
We stayed in this "4 star hotel" for one night only as an intermediate step of a journey.
Well the first surprise was the room competamente cold (at the end of March to Ogulin was about 1 degree outside temperature) with the heating did not work. The reception is activated by bringing an electric heater in the room of the 60's, smelly and certainly not in accordance with law. And the next morning "cold shower", just because there was no hot water.
He does not deserve even one star. Stay away from this hotel.

What to say? Great rooms, great food, even better wine cellar and extremely friendly staff, always with big smile on the face. Everything is possible! We have all enjoyed our stay at the hotel which became too short. Wine cellar is perfect place to have great dinner with excellent food together with wine testing. So, do not think - just go there and enjoy!

The rooms in Hotel Frankopan are named by the fairytales of famous croatian author and the fairytale spirit is noticable in small town Ogulin and its surroundings. The hotel has great rooms, the food is very tasteful, especially different sorts of pancakes! Hotel has wine cellar which is very romantic for dinner of a couple, and private saunas after long day on snow are just healing.
I recommend peaceful rest in this hotel, those woods, lots of food and wine, and trips to famous Plitvice waterfalls, lake Sabljaci or mountain Bjelolasica... Enjoy :)
