“Get Ready for a Walk!”
Reviewed March 6, 2012

On our trek through South Africa, a must-do was Cape Point! So we head off and get to the park, little did we know it was a national holiday! There was a huge line to get in, but the staff was extremely efficient and even though there were a good 40 cars in front of us, we got in after only around a 30 minute wait. Driving along the park leads to many gorgeous sights that vary greatly, from mountaintops to beaches, to barren-looking grasslands and much more, though driving through doesn't give you a great perspective. We first went to the mountain top where everyone seemed to be heading to, and boy is it a climb! We were a bit tight on schedule so we decided to skip climbing (I believe it was an extra 50R to take a tram up but the line for that was HUGE) or hiking and hopped in the car to the actual Cape Point which was a bit more of a drive away, passing absolutely gorgeous beaches and a very cute family of Ostriches, we got to the point. There we walked around and took in the sights of the ocean and mountains for a long while until we went back around and headed to one of the many beaches on site where we relaxed until the park closed.

Everything was gorgeous if not a little packed, but I'm sure if you go on a weekday, it'll be absolutely amazing. Also, don't do what we did, walk everywhere! There are gorgeous hiking trails scattered everywhere that give you DAYS of hiking trails! You can choose to do short ones or long ones but trust me, there is something for everyone!

“Worth the trip”
Reviewed March 6, 2012

We went down to the Cape (mistakenly thinking it was the continent's most southerly point) and were there and back in half a day. It was a bit rushed, but very enjoyable. The cape national park reminded us of some upland areas back home - but we never see penguins in Wales. It's good for some memorable photos.

“South Western most tip of Africa”

Rode the funicular up, walked down. Great experience. Saw lots of baboons, but managed to stay out of trouble with them. Ashraf, our Ilios travel guide, was wonderful.

“Spend the day; go exploring”
Reviewed March 5, 2012

This was the third time I'd been to Cape Point Nature Reserve. It gets more amasing with each visit. We drove around and found some beautiful sandy coves and pools, as well as climb up to the Point lighthouse. Steer well clear of the baboons - they can be a bit aggressive, but the little dassies are so cute, they are happy to pose for photo's whilst scurrying around looking for a sheltered spot away from the sun.
