I have mixed feelings about this holiday. We stopped at Montenegro beach resort between 18th til 28th May and only had 4 days of sunshine/ The weather on the other days was awful with rain (sometimes torrential( every day. Although the hotel obviously cannot be held responsible for the weather it is a grim place when its raining with little to do. Thank goodness for the indoor pool.

The hotel itself is a good 3 star .The hotel is spotlessly clean with the maids working around the clock. The said maids are pleasant and friendly as are the reception staff who will help you as much as possible. However that cannot be said about the tall man who worked in the Stars bar who was rude and unhelpful and told us to go to bed at 11pm as the bar was closing. This was not the case as it is open until 12 but he obviously wanted to go home early. We werent all inclusive thank goodness so didnt have to go back again. We went to other bars in Budva where we were welcome after 11pm.

The beach that the hotel owns is maintained but not the shoreline which is full of litter and plastic. There appears to be a small public beach next to the hotel one which is disgusting. The locals bought their dogs onto it and let them poo on it which the owners left there

There is a 3km walk to Budva old town which looked looked like a building site with lumps of concrete discarded on the beach and broken umbrellas and graffetti everywhere . Not pleasant.

The taxi going into Budva old town from the hotel is about 4 euros but beware coming back as we had several taxi drivers trying to charge 10 or 12 euros. They got very aggressive when you challenged them but stand your ground and dont pay anymore than 5 euros.

We are currently staying at the Montenegro Beach Resort hotel on all inclusive in room 326a, which is on the side of the hotel with great views of mountains and the sea. It’s in a great location near to the tunnel (like a long subway) shortcut to Budva, which you can reach in 30 mins at a gentle stroll around the edge of the bay or 15 mins if you like a fast walk. It’s almost all flat and paved. Plenty of places to stop for a drink on the way. Greco Beach has a pier with those clam shell type comfy seats with a canopy and a view of Budva old town, fabulous! When in Budva, be sure to visit the Citadela, only 3.5€ entrance to see wonderful views from the city walls and a beautiful cafe bar overlooking the bay. Just the place to treat yourself to a glass of fizz and soak up the views.

Our hotel staff are lovely and very helpful, reception will order taxis as required - it’s around 4€ to get a taxi to Budva Old Town or main bus station on the meter through the day, this goes up on an evening rate later. Taxis off the rank will charge 7€ minimum and are often not keen to negotiate. The bus to Kotor can vary from 2.5€ to 4€ each way depending on the bus operator, as there are several on each route. Buses also go to Tivat, Cetinje and Podgorica. You can also get the local Mediterran Express bus from the main road two mins walk from the hotel into Budva or along to Petrovac and Sveti Stefan only 1€. Go out from the hotel onto the beach and you can walk left to Petrovac, there are some lovely little cafes and bars along the way.

In the hotel the food is a very good standard for buffet style dining, lots of fresh salad, soups, a variety of hot and cold foods and the fresh bread is marvellous :). The rooms are lovely and modern, clean and well maintained. Our bathroom is compact, with a corner shower, very clean. Our balcony is small but just enough room for two chairs if you want to sit outside. The only problem in the room is the air con is poor, it doesn’t cool the room even if it’s on all night while you sleep. We had to sleep with the balcony door open, which was okay as it was cool on an evening, but in the summer when it’s still hot outside this will be an issue unless the air con is boosted in the hotter weather. I did mention this to our TUI rep Danilo (local young man, great guy and very knowledgable and helpful) and reception quickly sent up one of those Dyson type circle fans and that has been fine as it’s not too hot.

All Inclusive - wine, a selection of teas, coffee and soft drinks in the restaurant. Stars Bar at the back of the hotel facing the sea is where the entertainment is on every evening and all the all inclusive drinks, cocktails, spirits etc are available. Unfortunately you can’t get AI drinks in the Aperitif Bar next to the main restaurant. This is unusual for AI, I would’ve expected perhaps just wine, beer and soft drinks to be available here, with cocktails and spirits chargeable, but no. This means if you prefer a quiet evening in Aperitif (the entertainment in Stars is good, but can be very loud) then you would need to carry drinks round from Stars or buy in Aperitif at 20% discount for AI guests. I hope the hotel considers serving a restricted AI drinks menu in Aperitif in the future. There’s also a pool bar where you can get soft drinks and beer on AI or all drinks and some snacks in Stars throughout the day.

Unfortunately after 4 days of sun, the last 2 have been raining and overcast, so disappointing when there is so much to see in Montenegro. Kotor and Budva are a must, easy to reach on local buses. We used Montenegro Cruising, a local tour company, for trips to Dubrovnik in Croatia and Ostrog Monastery. We were lucky enough to have the same guide Vjera (Vera) on both trips, she was great fun, very knowledgeable and very organised, she kept everything running on time which is needed on a coach trip :). The little travel agent is on the way to Budva, after you exit the tunnel and pass the entrance to the Dukley Beach Lounge (beautiful but expensive) you will approach a beach bar that’s just a very large white metal canopy I can’t remember the name. Just past that on your right is a tiny travel shop for booking with Montenegro Cruising with Alexandra.

All in all a beautiful country, lovely people and a great hotel in a fab location for everything. We love Montenegro and will be very glad to return. It’s a tiny country with only 650,000 inhabitants (our guide Vjera told us) so visit this gorgeous and largely unspoilt by mass tourism place while you can

Firstly the hotel is in fantastic location with direct access and facilities on coarse sandy beach surrounded by beautiful mountainous scenery. The public areas and rooms are spotlessly clean with room service and towel change every day. The room is good size and well equipped with a fridge containing mini bar, comfortable beds and good full size shower with plenty of hot water and toiletries. Rooms with even numbers all seem to have best views of sea and mountains.
Now the negative bits. The all inclusive option is a bit odd as only one bar is available for full drinks package, the pool bar (when open) does do drinks but limited options ie soft drinks and beer but nothing else. The available bar is at the back of the hotel and a bit dark and dull. I have to comment on the restaurant as again, some drinks were available sometimes but not others ie breakfast had tea and coffee, lunch only had tea and wine, dinner had wine and tea, beer had to be ordered but staff were happy to fetch.
Whilst there was always a good selection of food at all meals it was a bit repetitive throughout the week. The hot food was, at best, luke warm even when it was just brought out from the kitchen. We had a problem at the end of the holiday when one of us suffered food poisoning which resulted in taking several days off work on sick leave.
The promenade in either direction from the hotel is a pleasant walk, particularly towards Budva although the tunnel isn’t particularly nice to walk through. During our visit (5th May for a week) there were a lot of restaurant and bars that were unopen, and indeed were having substantial amounts of work done in readiness for the main holiday season.
Would we recommend this hotel? Yes if budget matters
Would we return? Probably not as there will be other places particularly in Budva where there are more things to see and do than Becici.

I have recently returned from the Montenegro Hotel after spending 1 week there with my partner. The room was exceptionally clean and the hotel is in a good location close to the beach. The food however was luke warm or cold and very repetitive and for this reason I would not return.
