Have been going to Hidden Paradise since about 2002 and it is always like returning "home" whenever I'm there. It's a little hard to find; when you are going north on Route 200 from Bucerias, turn off at the exit for La Cruz, towards Punta Mita. The restaurant is just before you get to the new La Joya Condos and into the town of La Cruz. There's an overhead sign on a little dirt road that leads goes about 1/2 mile to the ocean.
Once you find it, you will be in for a treat; the view of the Bay of Banderas from this vantage point is outstanding! There is seating in the sun on a little balcony, a large covered open-air dining area and there is food and beverage service on the beach below the restaurant. Your meal starts with a basket of nacho chips and a spicy Salsa Fresca. There are no menus and your (English-speaking) server will bring a tray to your table which contains the day's offerings; mainly fresh fish and seafood, but also beef and chicken kebabs. I love the shrimp stuffed with cheese and wrapped in bacon, the coconut shrimp and the shrimp and lobster kebabs. I was recently there with friends who tried the seafood kebab which included octopus. Although it was out of my comfort zone, I tried a bite and it was delicious, and so tender! It's a family operation and Mom does the cooking, so you can mix and match when you place your order such as kebabs made of chicken and shrimp or lobster and steak, etc.
Open 7 days from 11:00 a.m. for lunch and dinner. Moderate prices and great "untouristy" atmosphere. Enjoy your meal or snack at Hidden Paradise!
