Looking for a fuller bodied ale and good German style food? You will be delighted then to visit The Black Forest. Really? Am I telling you to leave your cozy Mexican getaway and hop the next plane to Deutschland? Nope, I am talking about this great restaurant in La Cruz.
The Black Forest is the creation of Peter and Yvonne Demetz and Peter’s sister Andrea Küffner, with husband Chef Winfried. They are a family owned and operated restaurant that has proudly served the Banderas Bay community since 1998. Looking at the tudor style around the outside of the building, and all the decor around the inside, complete with his and hers gnomes that guard their respective bathroom doors, this place gives the feeling of Germany’s black forest. If that wasn’t enough to get you in the mood, wait till you taste the food. They have lots of authentic German food waiting to indulge your senses, some great German brews in 1/2 liter bottles for you to wash it all down with, and some incredibly yummy deserts to finish it off.
Peter does computer work on the side, which is why we headed over there (since I’m a computer guy myself), and Yvonne is quite knowledgeable about the region as well open to share her experiences as an expat to Mexico and gave us lots of great information.
They love to share the German culture with their guests and you really get a nice warm family vibe from them. I missed Oktoberfest this year, but this place made up for it.
They often have live music and just opened a website as well, where you can reserve a table online. You can find them at all the usual social network places like twitter, foursquare, facebook, and tripadvisor, as well http://www.blackforestpv.com/
They are open Sunday to Friday, 5:00 pm – 10:00 pm, closed on Saturdays.
Their address is Marlin No. 16, La Cruz de Huanacaxtle 63734 Nayarit, Mexico.
You may also phone (329) 295 – 5203. Wearing lederhosen is optional.
