Great place to stay. The accommodation is spotlessly clean and comfortable. The breakfasts one of the best we had in argentina. Location is ideal if you plan on doing bike (or car) tours of the vineyards, distilleries, and chocolate factories nearby.
The owner, Francisco (and Soci the dog and Canela the cat), from the very moment we first made contact over the web, couldn't have been more helpful. This was one place we were really looking forward to staying and it did not disappoint.
With great knowledge of the wines of Argentina (he used to work in the wine export industry), great ideas for things to do locally and superb advice regarding travel in Argentina, it really was like going to stay with a friend you hadn't seen for a while. I can't recommend it enough, and wish we could have our time on honeymoon there all over again (and for longer!)

We stayed at Tikay Killa on November 2-6, 2010 and thoroughly enjoyed it. On our arrival, we were met by the friendly owner Francisco, who provided us with lots of information on the surroundings and on sites to visit, as well as recommendations on what to visit outside Maipu during our stay. As highlighted in the other reviews, Francisco is extremely helpful and available, and will always go an extra mile to help his guests and make them feel at home at Tikay Killa.

The lodge is located in a quiet area of Maipu, on a beautiful country lane surrounded by vineyards and orchards. After the buzz of Buenos Aires where we had spent a week, it was a welcome change. Tikay Killa is located near an olive oil producer and the Bodega La Rural's Museo del Vino, and a few kilometers from wineries such as Trapiche. While it is a great area for bike rides, if you plan to stay there we would recommend to rent a car, as distances in Maipu are large and it is a very convenient way to visit the area and beyond (the lodge has parking).

In terms of accommodation, the rooms were simple, but comfortable and clean. The bed was good (the most important thing in a hotel!), and we slept like babies. The only small glitch we noticed was that we seemed to run out of hot water a bit quickly, even though rooms have individual heaters, but it was probably just a matter of adjusting the heating temperature.

All in all we had a great time at Tikay Killa, and would certainly stay there again if (or rather when) we return to Mendoza. Francisco plans to add a few rooms and a pool, which will be very welcome (the weather was HOT!).

Our stay at Tikaykilla with Fransisco (the owner, who speaks excellent English) was superb. His lodge is brand new, super clean, has really comfortable beds (best on our RTW trip so far), and thoughtful design (e.g. ample outlets, light switches at both the door and at bed). The lodge offered all the peace and quiet we could ask for (so much so we could hear crickets and birds at night, and no traffic noise whatsoever).
Fransisco made us a delicious breakfast to order (scrambled eggs with toast, and french pressed coffee). He also gave us great recommendations for our days in Maipu, including calling a restaurant and asking that they open up for us because there are minimal dining options in Maipu at night. We asked that he join us (he did) and we enjoyed a great dinner with a private chef!

Finally, his dog Suki (he claims he has not yet seen True Blood) was the cutest and loving yellow lab.

All in, this is great place to get some R&R in a very comfortable lodge for an excellent price.

We stayed with Francisco and Suki (the gorgeous labrador on sight) for 5 nights (having originally booked for 1) due to the amazing find that this lodge was. In terms of the room and the bathroom everything was impeccable, comfortable, clean, plenty of hot water etc (even a bath to soak away the tiredness after endless wine tasting) and the breakfast was delicious.

However, it was so much more than that as Francisco was possibly the most ridiculously helpful owner/manager we have ever come across. He not only advised us on nearby restaurants and winery tours and other activities, he treated us as friends and invited us to a bbq with his friends, a party organised by the Maipu tourism organisation with all the winery owners etc, and to a trip to the Andes with one of his friends who is hoping to open up a business. He also very kindly drove us to the bus stop to buy our tickets and then to drop us off to catch our bus - just all felt incredibly easy.

The living area and kitched were always open to us, we met some wonderful people through Francisco and Suki provided hours of endless entertainment (don't be put off if you are not a fan of dogs as he can be incredibly docile and sit in the back if you don't want to play with him)

The lodge is quiet and peaceful and its easy to walk/bike to a number of attractions which is fantastic, as well as cook in the evenings or sit in the garden to read etc.

Hope to return one day, definitely definitely try to stay here if you are heading to Mendoza.

Francisco has created a laid back, homely lodge which draws upon his own travelling experiences. Everything that a traveller could want or need is catered for.
Evenings can be spent lounging with francisco watching TV and having a chat (about anything from argentine politics to english football).
He can make really good scrambled eggs for breakfast and has the loveliest dog (hours can be spent throwing a stick for him to chase).

We had the pleasure of staying at Tikay Killa last month. From the time Francisco picked us up at the airport to the time he dropped us back there 3 days later, he made sure our stay in the Maipu area of Mendoza was memorable and enjoyable.

He went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and carefree as possible. He was happy to drive us to pick up rental cars, ferried us to wonderful lunch and dinners, and made great recommendations for things to do around the Maipu/Mendoza and other areas of Argentina.

Tikay Killa is great location for those that are interested in exploring the wineries and Olive Oil farms and wine museums in the area which are best explored by rented bikes.

The lodge itself is fairly new with comfortable rooms and a great breakfast. He makes a mean scrambled egg:)

We wish Francisco much success with Tikay Killa and hope to return there again someday!

After 3 days of the porteno hustle and bustle of Buenos Aires and 3 days of glacial sight-seeing in El Calafate, I needed a few days to truly kick back and unwind...a vacation from the vacation; and that's what I found in TikayKilla.

I had a hunch that this would be a different type of place when I first made the reservation. There was a level of responsiveness and sincerity that could be felt, even via email.

And of course this all stems from the face of TikayKilla; the wonderful Francisco (and his blond canine compadre Sockie!!!). From the caring fussiness at breakfast every morning, to the never ending fount of information on culture of the region, and perfect recommendations for excursions from winery tours to thermal spas, horseback riding or hiking. You knew that you were in good hands.

This B&B is truly a hidden gem...one that is soon to be discovered by those seeking an authentic experience in the charm and picturesque beauty of Mendoza valley and the Aconcagua mountains.

So if you speak English, German, Portugeuse or Spanish, If you are a man, a woman, a human or alien. If you are gay or straight. Single or coupled. Red, yellow black or white, look forward to being a welcome friend of TikayKilla.
