What makes Tikaykilla so great is Francisco. He is attentive and makes it feel like you are truly a guest in his home, more than a hotel. If you are after a relaxing retreat away from the city of Mendoza this place is for you. Very comfortable bed and great bathroom, just wish they had a pool for some of the hot days. Overall an excellent stay - would recommend and stay again!

Francisco makes the wine country experience come alive with his hospitality and help while staying at TikayKilla. We knew Francisco cared, when we sent an email and expressed interest, he immediately responded with a request to talk over Skype so he could answer all our questions and ensure that there was no communication gaps. His advice, help and personality really helped us to enjoy our experience of his place located right on the bike trails to the wineries. The rooms are basic and maybe could use a little more sound insulation between the rooms, but the furnishings and fixtures are new and clean. Breakfast is supplied and the cook does some great scrambled eggs :-).

All the positive reviews of TikayKilla are true -- the property is beautiful, Francisco goes above and beyond as a host, and the location is right on the Maipu "ruta del vino" biking route. Rooms are basic but clean, and the bed was surprisingly very comfortable!

TikayKilla is the type of small, intimate lodge where guests are friendly and often end up enjoying the evenings with each other after the day's activities are over. (We could have just gotten lucky with the others that happened to be there when we were, but it's such a friendly and open atmosphere that I doubt it!) Also, if you are a dog-lover, book this hotel right now because you will love playing with the resident yellow lab.

My only advice would be to bring a map and/or directions to give to your taxi driver when you arrive at Mendoza. We struggled with some taxi drivers being able to easily find the hotel.

After reading all the fantastic reviews, we booked 4 nights at Tikaykilla Lodge and loved every minute of our stay. Francisco is an amazing host who makes you feel instantly welcome and comfortable. He will assist with all aspects of your visit to the Mendoza area from bicycle and car rentals to winery visits and dinner recommendations.
We loved sharing stories in the evening with the other travelers staying in the 4 room lodge. We often came back from our daily adventures and tastings and gathered on the front patio to sip wine with the other guests and sometimes Francisco as well. Of course the golden lab named Soki was also there wagging his tail which made us feel like we were at home.

We would definitely recommend this lodge to other travelers and will remember it as a highlight of our Argentinian holiday. Thank you Francisco for making our trip so special. You are always welcome in Vancouver!

Our experience at Tikay Killa was perect in every way. It started with a car wating for us at the airport, to arranging bike and car rentals, restaurant recommendations, reserving tours, home made breakfasts, all on a quaint property close to where you want to be. The rooms were simple but modern and clean, a quiet oasis to return to after a long day, all at a great price. And as others have said, Francesco is the consumate host. But even if he weren't around Tikay Killa would still be an amazing find.

We stayed with Francisco for 3 nights while we explored the wine region. While this is not a five star luxury resort, we could not have expected more from Francisco's hospitality. He treated us like old friends from the moment we arrived and when we left we knew we had a great new friend in Argentina. Francisco assisted us with winery visits on bike in the local area and even arranged a private driver for us for a longer day visiting vineyards. My wife is normally scared of dogs and after this stay she really wanted us to get a retriever. Francisco's dog, Soki, won her over with his warmth and affection.

Francisco also seems to know everyone in town. We stopped by a local grill restaurant for dinner and we were too early for dinner - we got there at 7 or so and most places don't open for dinner until 8 or 9. We mentioned Francisco's name and suddenly the restaurant was open and we were sipping a bottle of wine!

Francisco also spent one evening sharing a bottle of wine with us on the property and we exchanged travel stories. One night we waited too late for dinner and Francisco whipped up a quick spaghetti dinner for us.

All in all, we had a lovely time at Tikaykilla and will recommend it to our friends. While this is not a luxury property, the experience was much better than many five star resorts we have stayed at.

I honestly don't have enough great things to say about Tikay Killa and the owner, Francisco (who speaks perfect English by the way). We were there just a couple of weeks ago and had a wonderful time. Francisco helped us organize transportation, activities, taxis, restaurants, and anything else we needed. He drove us to the farmacia one night when I needed to pick up some medication. He bought us a bottle of wine when we arrived to celebrate our honeymoon. This is my first ever review on Trip Advisor - I usually don't take the time to rate hotels as they are usually all just a little of the same, but this stay was exceptional.

It's outside of downtown Mendoza but a very cheap cab ride away and made the winery tours that much more fun as the first stop is only 1/4 mile down the street. If you go to Mendoza you MUST stay here! Thank you so much, Francisco, we had an incredible time!
