This relatively new B&B-style lodge offers peace and quiet, or friendly banter when you want it. It's clean and the proprietor will, without question, try to make you comfortable. For instance, he has made arrangements with a local bike rental company to keep a few bicycles at the lodge for convenience. He will call a taxi, give you suggestions on places to visit (wineries) or help you order a pizza. For us, arriving on a Sunday afternoon when the shops are mostly closed, he prepared and included us in his evening dinner. If you need extra attention, just make friends with Soki, the TikayKilla puppy. The proprietor is very smart, is acquainted with all the latest pop culture and could definately handle a much larger property... You won't go wrong at TikayKilla.

We spent a few nights in Tikay Killa Lodge. This is a great place in the middle of the wine-area of Maipu, just outside Mendoza. The lodge, which is pretty new, is a very good base to relax and to do wine-tasting by bike. The vineyards are just around the corner. You can rent bikes at the lodge. The owner, who speaks fluently English as well, is a fantastic host. He will provide you with all the things you want to know about the area. Together with his lovely dog (the most adorable ever seen!) he is taking care of a very nice atmosphere. The rooms are maybe not the biggest, but good enough. There is a kind of nice veranda where you can drink your wine in the evening.  If you need a relax place and like to stay close to the vineyards where you can do the wine-tasting by bike, we can highly recommend this place.

The owner was extremely helpful and friendly and achieved the perfect balance to make our stay very relaxing and enjoyable. The hotel was very well located to be able to cycle to all the vinyards easily. I would definitely recommend this hotel, although I don't recommend drinking as much as did at the vineyards!!

Stayed here last weekend and it was a truly great experience. The staff were super super nice and the best part about it was that they really helped us out with our trip. They hooked us up with some local vineyards that are off the beaten track, the owner made us a "parrilla" one night and showed us a place for an olive oil tasting (something i was not expecting to do in Mendoza). The place is really quiet and service was great. Highly recommend it to anyone going to Mendoza. I also think its better to stay outside of Mendoza city, which is not very nice anyways. This place is well located, near all the wineries in Maipu.

My fiancee and I had a lovely stay at TIKAYKILLA for the better part of a week late last year. Francisco is the most gracious, generous, accommodating host. We were exhausted and feeling a little under the weather when we arrived at Mendoza from Buenos Aires -- Francisco met us at the bus station and over the next five days, took care of us as if we were guests in his home (which, I suppose, we were). He cooked us delicious breakfasts, which we enjoyed on the sunny patio, shuttled us around when we needed to run errands, and coordinated a horseback riding excursion and a guided trip to Lujan de Cuyo wineries for us, both of which were great. Francisco is also just an awesome guy -- smart, funny, engaging, as ready to discuss the complexities of the wine industry as he is to quote Borat. He really made our time in Maipu.

The lodge itself is very nice. The rooms are a decent size and pretty basic yet quite comfortable, and I don't think you could find better quality for the money around Mendoza. There's a nice common area and a kitchen that we cooked a couple meals in. And Francisco's dog Soki, a big, lovable, lumbering yellow lab, was so much fun -- he's another reason that TIKAYKILLA was such a great place for us to spend our week in Maipu.

I'm looking forward to a return trip to Mendoza and will no doubt stay again at TIKAYKILLA.

It was so good, I had to come back...and bring a friend. After literally counting down the months after my last visit to Argentina (Sep.2010) I decided to escape the Apil showers in New York for more Mendoza bliss! This time I brought along a friend - to ensure that I wasn't hallucinating - and to enjoy the rustic coziness of TIKAYKILLA and of course the warm hospitality of Francisco, the inn keeper, best huevos revueltos maker and unofficial "mayor of Mendoza". It was as wonderful as I remembered, visits to local bodegas(wineries), delicious restaurants, a cute new cafe and convenient grocery are all in walking distance. As if we weren't relaxed enough, Francisco was able to schedule us for a day trip to the Cachueta thermal springs and spa...heaven!
oh! And how can I forget daily kisses from Soki? :-)

The only sad part of the trip was leaving. But then again there's always next year!

After searching online for somewhere to stay for ages, we spent 4 nights here and it was perfect. The brother/sister run it together and served up a very substantial and tasty breakfast and then we spent the days either cycling around vineyards or laying in the garden playing with their dog. You are so close to the vineyards it makes it very easy to get around on a bike, where as if you stay in the city (where we went afterwards) you could be anywhere, its nowhere near as special. Its also close to the beautiful mountains if you want to see those also. Fantastic if you have a car, however we didnt and we loved walking and cycling around - great for people who want to be in the countryside. Still the odd restaurant and mini market close by however.
Cant fault it, either for young/older couples, holiday makers or travellers. If you want to enjoy countryside, relaxing and wine, plus great service, stay here.
