“A great experience”
Reviewed February 21, 2012

We stayed at Posada Cavieres for a week in November. Hans and Alina are wonderful hosts. This posada is very homey, casual and lovely. Our room was super large (with a king size bed), very clean and comfortable. The bathroom was also large and super clean. We were greeted with an asado cooked by Hans and his father in law for a joint birthday for Alina and I. Delicious. There is a small kitchen for the use of guests so we made some simple meals a few times. Breakfast is plentiful, fresh and good. The pool is great after a day of touring the wineries. Hans is very knowledgeable about the area and most forthcoming with ideas about tours - follow his advice - you won't regret it. The Posada's wine is delicious. The Posada is in a great location for visiting Maipu and Uco Valley wineries as well as the town of Maipu and Mendoza city. The trip up the mountains is a bit hairy but well worth it for the incredible views. Wonderful place to eat nearby: Bodego Cecchin. And we developed a lovely relationship wtih the house dog, Tommy, a lovely companion for those missing their pooches they've left back home. Thank you Hans and Alina for a memorable stay.

My boyfriend and I recently stayed at Posada Cavieres for 3 nights in December 2011 and we loved every minute. We stayed 2 nights in Mendoza city so were looking forward to getting out in the country. The posada is a little tricky to find, not every cab driver will know, even if you give him the address. I literally showed the taxi driver the map so he knew where it was.

We were greeted by Hans and his lovely wife Alina for a traditional BBQ when we arrived. It was absolutely delicious and a perfect end to our long day. The rooms are modest, but very comfortable. The bathroom and room were both very spacious with a table and chairs outside which we really enjoyed. There is also a small pool which is nice to dip the feet into. One thing to note is that there is no A/C. This was very concerning for me at first, but it was perfectly fine. It gets very cool at night and with a fan it was great. It is much warmer in the city at night, so don't let that concern you.

The location is right in the middle of the Maipu wine route....you can easily bike to 4-5 wineries in a day. We rented bikes in great condition from Hans at a very reasonable price. We also asked Hans to organize an organized wine tour to Uco valley -- which has a very different feel from Maipu. Much "fancier" but a really cool experience.

I highly recommend Posada to anyone looking to stay in the middle of Argentina wine country with a personal touch. Hans and Alina go above and beyond to make your stay special!

This is the place you want to be if you are looking for a relaxed, cosy and friendly environment. It is very near the wineries and itself in the middle of vineyards and olive trees. The hosts - Hans and Alina - are very welcoming and will do all to make you feel at home. Go and try it out!

This was our first time to Mendoza and it was an adventure for us. We drove from Cordoba Capital and arrived in the city of Maipu after driving through one of there wind storms (viento zonda) There was no power throughout the city and we had to find posada cavieres in the dark.
when we did arrive, Hans had candles and electric lamps for us, we got settled in our room and had dinner by candlelight (torta pasqualina) very good. Next day he gave us directions to various wineries in the are and we rode bikes to them. That night we ate at La Melesca which opened up for us so we can have dinner. The following day we went in car to three more wineries and a beer garden and took a short drive to the city of Mendoza. That night Hans was able to make an asado which was quite good, he even had a bottle of his own malbe wine on the house and we met the wine maker that night.
Over all our stay was very good, the place has a nice rustic feel to it and you are staying right on a vineyard. You do need a car or taxi to get here. You need at least 3 to 5 days if you want to see a lot of the wineries and a trip to the mountains. I would recommend this place because of its location to other wineries.
Thank you Hans and Alina, Los extranamos y las pasamos muy bien. chau chau y hasta la proxima. =)

After a few days in Mendoza, we opted out of organized wine tours and spent two nights at Cavieres, right down the road from many vineyards, instead. Our room was spacious and comfortable with an outdoor table and chairs overlooking their grapevines and olive trees. Hans gave us a list of wineries that we could just drop in on and we spent a day biking to vineyards, it was so much fun. Alina made us an incredible dinner one night, doing a full asado and making vegetarian crepes for me. The food was reasonable and delicious. It was a clean and comfortable place to stay and you can't beat the location if you are looking for a few relaxing days with great access to the vineyards. There aren't a lot of restaurants in maipu so if you stay at Cavieres you should definitely eat there at least once. We were very happy there and would definitely recommend it.

Quiet and intimate little place (with only 3 rooms) situated in the outskirts of Maipu but within biking distance to several wineries. After reserching several places in the area, we decided for this one since in the overall Maipu/ Lujan de Cuyo region this seemed to have best price/ value ratio and we were not disappointed. The owners are very friendly and help you with everything, the kitchen is very well-equipped, and you can buy their wine, olives and olive oil. The Posada is within the wineyard, 10m away from the grapes. The rooms are comfortable, beds big, bathrooms large and clean, no luxury but really nice. Breakfast is quite good as well. Overall, we felt very much at home and would defenitely recommend it.

Room Tip: We had room 2 which has a view on the wineyards.

In the middle of the winefields a beautiful little posada with lovely service from the extremely friendly owners hans and aileena. We stayed 4 nights and had a great time. It was our first time in a posada as we usually go to design hotels. Not much luxury here in terms of design but the food, service, environment, ambiance and price/value made it all just a fanastic vacation! Higly recommended!
