I wish we had found this restaurant earlier in our holiday and not our penultimate day in the country. Pascal, the owner, greeted us as we walked in and was extremely charming and friendly with excellent English. The restaurant was beautiful inside, clean and with the typical “French ambience” we had been looking for all our holiday. The atmosphere was extremely relaxed, with French music playing in the background amidst the conversations and laughter of fellow customers. Pascal kindly explained the menu to us as our broken French translations didn’t quite hit the mark and we made our choices. Whilst we waited for our order, we had excellent local wines from the region which Pascal took great pride in serving us. We all had 3 courses, which we all thoroughly enjoyed - all the meals were cooked using local and fresh ingredients. Pascal even kindly offered to open earlier the following day for us so that we could enjoy a lovely meal before our long car journey back to the UK. What customer service is that!! Cheers Pascal ! :) It was really appreciated ! We would highly recommend this restaurant to all, superb food and excellent wines !

Really enjoyed our meal, friendly service with tasty food. We were sat next to the ex Major of St Jean d' Angely which was a good sign as I am sure he knows all the best places to eat. Three course evening meal €22 very good value. I enjoyed all courses but the cheese selection as dessert was excellent.

In the centre of St. Jean, opposite the clock tower, we found this charming little place. The owner told us he used to cook for Donald Trump in NYC....but don't let that put you off! The prix-fixe menu is excellent value and changes daily. The only slight complaint was that the steak was a little 'chewy' even when cooked 'a point.' The wine list is modest, but quality is very good. Recommended.

We ate here with friends last week. The food was on the whole ok. Nice starter and dessert, but the main course which was a sort of lamb tagine was a bit watery and it had virtually no accompaniment. The owner asked us if we wanted to speak English or French, to which we replied French (as we were eating with a French couple, one of which didn't speak English, and we are selves have a good level of French), unfortunately he decided to ignore this and speak in English! All the food was served on the most ridiculous slate plinths, which meant that when a bowl was placed on it, it made it unstable and totally unsuitable for eating off. Not only are slate plates totally out of fashion and so overdone, the poor waitress could hardly carry them, let alone place them in front of us! Balsamic glaze on everything except the dessert, which was a shame as this too is a bit old hat! We have eaten here a couple of times before and the food is on the whole OK as I said before. Avoid the room off the restaurant with the pictures of the scary clowns, no one at our table liked clowns and it seemed a weird choice of decoration! We heard the people on the table behind us say exactly the same thing!

Madame, Monsieur,
