We were hesitant to eat in this rather formal dining room. Our wonderful waiter, Andrea, immediately put us at ease. We were the only diners. We started with a lovely bread basket and peppery olive oil. Next we were welcomed with a small plate of 24 month old prosciutto and an artichoke heart. We followed this with the risotto with celeriac, black truffles and coffee. It was the most delicious risotto I have ever eaten! Spectacular. For secondi we had maiolino nero (black piglet) slowly cooked to tender perfection and served with a healthy dribble of both puréed celeriac and plain yogurt. We had a delightful cerasuolo wine called Prima Madre from Vini La Quercia, as recommended by Andrea. It was the perfect complement to our unforgettable meal.
