“the best family place in Coffeebay!”
Reviewed July 1, 2010

Hi
We are delighted at our stay at Bomvu!
It is so much more spacious than any of the other places in Coffeebay!
with a paradise like camping site, big fire place and even a raw juice in the mornings served at their restaurant! WOW!
These people are busy creating a wellness center!
Planting organic food -which you can enjoy in their restaurant as well as helping the locals to erect food gardens!
yoga classes in the morning done while you watch the horses eat-superbly!
then a healing massgage after you have been on a horse ride-sound slike heaven!
they also serve delicious wood fired pizza -AND they offer a gluten free base!!!!
Soon they are opening a raw food restaurant where one can enjoy good organic meals and solar baked bread!
definately this is a place where one heals and where ones children can play!
offcourse on their doorstep one will find the Coffeeshack - another backpackers where wild parties happen!
So Bomvu is the place where one heals!
I will definately recommend this to the more mature traveller,!

We have been travelling for 6 months and i have to say that this was the worst backpacker of the all trip...and probably of my life! The place itself could be much better if they do a bit of mantainance and ged rid of their awful stuff! The adventure started already on the backpacker shuttle ...the guy was driving like crazy, his eyes were like if he was on drug, we almost run over 2 people and cannot say how may goats...driving more than 100km/h on a countryside road! what a good start...then we arrived in our room and a big rat (not a mouse...a RAT!) was waiting for us on the bed pillow...and when i went to tell (not even complaining) at the reception, instead of being sorry they made fun of us of being scared of mice! I am not surprised by the presence of rats cause the whole place is very dirty, the kitchen was always left in a disgusting state and most of the time by members of the stuff! and at the top of that they push you to buy their tour even when you are asking information from where some easy walk start (i.e. hole in the wall) and they just want to convince you that you cannot go on your own...the second night we moved to coffe shack, the place much better and the stuff more friendly! anyway there are much better places in the transkei than coffe bay! I would not stop at all!

This place is amazing!! True old Africa in the Transkei -- not built up, beautiful scenery, and raw nature. You got to love it -- true Woodsmoke of Africa here!

Bomvu is massively overlooked due to competition from the Coffee Shack but we couldn't get a room there! We actually really enjoyed our stay at Bomvu, the staff were great, the location is beautiful and it was very peaceful while we were there. It was interesting that the staff actually ended up partying at the Coffee Shack every night we stayed there! We had a great surfing lesson and our only disappointment was that most of the day trips were not running as there were not enough guests. The rooms are fairly standard for a backpackers apart from the fact that they are set in a very natural location. All in all a beautiful place to spend a few days.

We stayed at Bomvu backpackers and I can honestly say it was the worst place I have ever stayed at.It seemed like the managemant was constantly spaced out on some substance and nothing was according to their nice website. No regard is given to paying campers and the place is turned into a shebeen every single night up to 4.30am in the morning .No chance for sleep or chilling out as the locals turn it into a drunken arguing nest every single night-a real dump and very poorly managed!!!!!Dont go there!!!
