Bomvu Backpackers is a fantastic gem of a place. Not only are the staff super friendly, but the views, setting and food is amazing. It is rustic, but that only adds to the charm of the place. Everything was clean and the dogs were absolutely full of character and so cute. I loved that even out of season - something was happening every night at Bomvu. It made such an impact on us - that we really want to go back there and stay for a good couple of months.

Paradisw Bomvu is a very nice place close to a wonderful beach. There are nice dorm mixed room and a wide garden for camping where you can put your tent with a lot of shadow so you feel always good.
The bar is very nice and I really have a lot of fun with Lisa and Karl .Karl is the owner of the Paradise and Lisa is his nice daugher and they manage with a lot of simpatie the place.
Karl is the King of drama music. He with his band play so emotional music that sometimes I dance too much!!! Every night not sometimes, is part of the philosohoy of the Paradise Bomu!
Is a place also for your soul , is not only a holiday but is much much more....

This is by far the worst place I have ever stayed in my entire life! Its no where near a beach, close to a dirty rock pool that you have to walk through and walk quite far to get to the beach. The camping site is extremely akward and you can't have your car with you. No help or direction when checking in. Not even showing you where to pitch your tent. The toilets and showers were absolutely DISGUISTING! No water on our day of arrival so you can imagine the state, no toilet paper holders so yuk! I actually just swam in the sea and didn't shower for 2 days as I was scared of catching something. No ice. Be prepared to be offered all sorts of illegal drugs when walking or moving anywhere. The shop! My god what is the point?! It is disguisting And stocks nothing! And you have to make your way through a horde of drunk drug selling people before getting there. The food in the restaurant was edible but we only ate there cause we could not find food anywhere else. The so called restaurant is dirty, the bar area is dirty, the outside is filthy. If rustic charm means never been cleaned and not maintained at all then it has rustic charm. I still don't feel completely clean after this place! Do not go here

Coffee bay is a very awesome place to say but this backpackers was just average. It has its pro's and cons. The staff was super friendly. They even came to check if we were enjoying the pizza we ordered. The meals and meal portions for the evening dinners were small however.
We stayed in a double room en-suit which was clean however lacked a shower curtain letting people standing outside see you while you shower.
I was not too impressed with the communal seating areas which were full of dog hair and usually occupied by a dog. We then also went on a hike to the caves which were spectacular at a cost of R100pp. After checking with the backpackers next door they charge only R80 and they include lunch for the very same hike. I felt a bit cheated.

Room Tip: Go next door to coffee shack rather

Super friendly staff. Clean and good rooms. Very chilled atmosphere. You can join the partys at Coffee Shack (the party hosel on the other site of the street) and afterwards find a quite sleep at Bomvu. The organic shakes are awesome!

Overall, I'd give Bomvu more of a 3.5 but you can't do half stars in reviews here... 4 stars for the setting and common areas and 3 for the room.

Our double was a bit cramped with a bed and a large trunk. BUT - in our private bathroom, the shower head was a nice new rain shower head - one of the best we've had in any hostel anywhere in the world! They showed us one other double that was available; it was a much bigger, nicer looking room, but with very thin walls, so we picked the slightly quieter space.

No internet though, so that was a bummer.

Bomvu's got a great vibe. Friendly reception, there's parking, cool grounds with a restaurant, bar, fire pit, yoga studio, amphitheater, outdoor hangout areas and of course a path heading towards the beach. Coffee Bay is a funky little enclave and we wish we'd spent more time there. Off the few dirt roads in town are a bunch of little bars and shops. People are friendly and strike up conversations with you easily. Bomvu has either a party with live music or drum lessons every night of the week! The owners are incredibly welcoming and bought us drinks to make us feel at home. A cool little place on the Wild Coast!
