Such an amazing experience at Coffee Shack!
The atmosphere was perfect!! Location a little difficult to get too. I would highly recommend driving to Coffee Bay during the day, the roads are quite bad and tons of potholes. But well worth the drive. Unforgettable weekend! Except for the fact that I forgot my camera there. Coffee Shack staff (Cindy) THANK YOU for sending it on the Baz Bus back to East London for me. GREATLY APPRECIATED. The staff were so help and very welcoming. It was nice to feel apart of the crew not just another tourist. Defiantly will make my way back there in the near future!

Howzit Amelia
It is always best to drive during the day light hours if you can, with all the animals and people along the road. They are currently doing a good job of fixing the potholes, but there are still a few out there.
Glad to hear that you got you camera back safely, look forward to seeing you back soon.
Have a great festive season.
Cheers David & the Coffee Shack crew

Wow, what an unbelievable experience we decided we were coming back for a week next holidays. Coffee Shack really made our first experience in Coffee Bay something unforgettable. Mountains of things to do during the day and they kept us entertained in the evening with the most amazing different activities. Fabric painting, dressing up competitions, pool table competitions, drinking games etc etc If you didn't want to participate you could chill at the bonfire watching the festivities. The food was to absolutely die for and well priced. It was such a beautifully home cooked meal. Unbelievable view. Ladies selling stunning beaded jewellery. The scenery was like Thailand but with a homely South African feel with the amazing people and food! They looked after us amazingly. Comfortable, cleanly rooms (we stayed in the dorm) and cleanly modern african feel to the beautiful bathrooms-hairdryer available to use, Amazing community uplifting programmes as part of the backpackers. We'll definitely be back for round 2! Thank you for the experience :-)

the views are stunning, and made even more so by the friendly staff. I took a few minutes to read what the staff are trying to accomplish, and I think they met all their objectives and then some. A very welcoming place, where an effort is made to regard you as an actual person and not just another body occupying a bed. The daily activities are great opportunities to participate and get to know the area and the other residents. The self catering facilities are ok, but you may decide not to use them because the food provided is good wholesome cooking. It is a distance from the nearest supermarket, so stock up at Mthatha before you arrive, or you will be dependant upon the food there [not a bad thing!]. The dorm beds were comfortable enough, but if you're in the front dorm, an early night is not in your future as the drumming from the hostel across the way or sometimes the bar will keep you up and you will be better off staying across the river - but then you'll have to step across without falling in. Note that there is no common indoor area - all the common areas are outdoors, so on a rainy and cold day, there really are not a whole lot of places to hang out, unless you're cozied up in your bed with a book.

Room Tip: Stay across the river in a hut or a dorm if you want a bit more quiet.

Thanks for the positive review and we really appreciate the fact that our guests appreciate the effort it we make at Coffee Shack. Thank you for noting the quality and price of our meals, we do try to keep them reasonable, as there are not many options in Coffee Bay, as you mentioned. Dinner will be increasing to R55 for a 2 course meal (Starter & Main course or Main & Dessert), on the 15th December 2012)
Have a great festive season.

You drive over an hour from the N2 but you're greeted with a complimentary drink. There's an option of accomodation, it's clean, friendly, we also appreciated the lovely Sunday dinner and the activities, special thanks to the surf teacher. Altogether a good place in a nice setting. One drawback: the constant and insistant begging and yelling as you walk to Hole in the Wall.

Coffee shack makes coffee bay that much more of a beautiful place!
Coffee shack is the ultimate place to go exploring, relax, swim in the ocean, hang out with the locals and have a nice drink around a fire.
The sleeping arrangements are so unique; I loved sleeping in a rondavl.
The staff are friendly and are willing to help with anything.
They provide cool events for every day for all types of adventureers.

I loved coffee shack and they will see me back there again soon.

Hello Clara
Thank you for the great review. More importantly, it makes us really happy that you had enough time to have a complete Coffee Shack/ Coffee Bay experience, with enough time to do activities, spend time in the hammocks and on the beach enjoying the beautiful natural environment, and most importantly spend some time making new friends, which is really what travelling is all about?
We hope to see you back here soon.
Cheers David & the Coffee Shack Crew
