Description: Opened in 2013, Tinajas Arenal is a family project perfectly situated at the edge of the Arenal Lake. Our family settled in Arenal many years before Lake Arenal was created in 1974 and Nuevo Arenal was established. With a green organic garden. Tinajas is a wonderful place to eat while traveling this beautiful area, with glorious sunsets and a dock for boat access, this new lakeside retreat is a hidden gem. It is the perfect place to relax and take nice pictures of the lake and the sunset

“What a setting!”
Reviewed June 30, 2013

Take the time to find this restaurant! The directions on the business card are:"1km Peninsula, Nuevo Arenal, Costa Rica" The town, itself, is not that big, so don't hesitate to ask directions! It is worth it! The menu has organic, healthy choices, including the beverages. I look forward to returning.

“Our Favorite Restaurant!”
Reviewed June 2, 2013

The manager of our rental villa recommended Tinajas and we have eaten there twice in the past week, plan to go again before our vacation ends. It is by far the best restaurant we've been to in all of Arenal! Food is wonderful, as well as the view and the service. This family run restaurant provides extra special service and Cindy, our server, was full of useful information about the Arenal area. This family grows their own organic fruits and veggies right on the property. It's the only restaurant that's right on the lake and has gorgeous sunsets! Put this one at the top of your list, we'd give it 6 stars if we could!

“Gorgeous view, great food, friendly service”
Reviewed May 1, 2013 via mobile

It's a bit of an outing to get to Las Tinajas, but it's well worth it. The road is a little rough In places and there's a very short stretch I'd be leery of in the rain without a four-wheel drive, but the food was good enough that I might risk it. It was very tasty, nicely presented, and an excellent value. I had the Ensalada Camarones, which featured at least a half pound of flavorful, well-seasoned-shrimp cooked perfectly, three kinds of greens, half an avocado, thinly sliced red bell peppers, tomatoes, and a very good remoulade dressing for 4,000 colones (about 8 dollars). My only criticism would be that the large tomatoes weren't all that good, but I think that restaurants feel compelled to use them rather than the small cherry tomatoes that are almost always flavorful around these parts. My husband had a chicken breast sautéed with an orange chipotle sauce served with young green beans and mashed potatoes formed into a small volcano that had a slight ginger flavor (6,000 colones, I think). We had some great fruit liquidos with the meal since it was lunch but I'm pretty sure they have beer and wine. We will be going back within days. If you're touring in the area, you owe it to yourself to get off the lake road and seek it out. Oh, I forgot to mention the incredible view. It is on the lakeshore in a lovely setting with lots of birds and flowers and has a stunning view that's supposed to be gorgeous at sunset.
