My wife and I started planning a two week Costa Rica trip clear back in March. We knew we were going to the Arenal region and when we read reviews on the restaurants, we knew Gingerbread would be our destination. Waiting four months just added to the anticipation. No disappointment in this dining experience. Eyal, Beth, the wait staff, guests (including Luke) were an important part of the great ambiance. Food was exceptional! The mushroom appetizer with garlic toast was wonderful. The heart of palm and avocado salad was wonderful. The entree, mahi mahi and fettucine in a lemon caper sauce with a variety of vegetables, including brussel sprouts, was wonderful. Highly recommend. The overall price was high, but the portions were very large, enough for two or more. We took home leftovers, and they were very good the next day. Can't wait for our next trip to Arenal and a great experience at the Gingerbread, so named because of the trim color of the paint on the exterior of the building. :)

We booked this in advance due to Lonely PLanet's recommendation and Trip Advisor reviews. The spot is awesome. The building is big and spacious, with a great view from the front porch overlooking the lake. They let us sit down and have a drink early, the staff were really friendly and welcoming. The chef, however, is awesome. A real character, he chatted to us for ages - great guy, well travelled, really interesting background. We went with a chef's selection for dinner, so had a slew of incredible plates brought out to us (and described to us) by the chef. The food was great - rich and homemade. We were even allowed to tae the leftovers home and had them the next day for lunch. Thanks Gingerbread!

Gingerbread is a higher-end restaurant on the Lake road. The food is tasty, but a bit expensive if you are traveling on a budget. To be fair, each plate does serve two people.

We spent a week at the Gingerbread hotel, and the included breakfast was the same everyday, which wears thin after a day or two.

The Gingerbread Restaurant is definitely the best place on Lake Arenal for a special evening. The ambiance is great, nice lighting, very tastefully furnished. The food is pricy but very good and the portions are huge. Considering that you would normally take some of it home and have a nice lunch the next day, it's actually good value for money.

We have been lucky enough to visit this amazing bed and breakfast for years. The chef, Eyal ,is beyond talented in his dishes and presentation . Start with the blackened tuna salad, jump into the duck quesadilla, linger over the tri-tips, and if your are smart save room for the bread pudding. After you wake up from your food coma, prepare for one of the finest breakfasts you experience. Request the wine room or garden of Eden. Both have outdoor showers!
