“We keep coming back!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 15, 2014

Unbeatable location on Pigeon Point, beautiful view from spacious balcony and incredibly helpful staff. Whatever the problem - missed flight or broken fishing rod they always go the extra mile to help..

We have been coming back for 12 years and hope to keep coming for the next 12 years.

Many thanks guys.

Nick and Polly

Room Tip: Sea view is worth the extra. If not stay away from the parrots

Our short stay at the Conrado was great. We stayed for 4 days and 3 nights.
We were welcomed by the ever smiling Bernadette, who personally showed us to our rooms. We were not rushed to fill in the paperwork.
We stayed in the Superior Ocean View rooms which were a treat. I had stayed at the Conrado 3 years ago and it was lovely to see the refurbishments that had been done to the building. New ceilings, the bathrooms had new tiles and the AC units were quiet and efficient. These rooms are fantastic, as they overlook the sea. With the close proximity to the water it actually is like stepping out of the room and into the water!
We made use of the use of the complimentary beach loungers and towels and had a great time bathing in the water. It is near coral reefs so obviously there will be lots of coral debris on the sand. There is a spot of water about 10 square metres just in front of the hotel that is devoid of reef and is sandy, it was a Heavenly place to bathe!! Of course another way around it is to invest in some beach shoes if you are extremely squeamish! We did not need them.
The beach is a great way to observe the comings and goings of the fishermen of Pigeon Point and see them return with their catch. Whoever mentioned the fishy smell really need to get a life. If there was any, it was not noticeable to us.
The balconies of the ocean view rooms provide loungers to catch the last of the afternoon sun and provides a breathtaking view of sunsets.
Room cleanliness was great and the girls were prompt every morning.

Breakfast provided us with tasty and varied options. The bake and buljol was scrumptious cooked up by Melissa. She was so sweet in making vegetarian alternatives available for the vegetarians in our family. Her sister Sally , who does the evening service had a 'sweet hand' too. We ate dinner only once. The food was tasty and not expensive at all. My husband had the snapper (catch of the day) and it was so tasty he could not stop smiling. Why more people do not have dinner there is strange. Sally is a great cook!! On our next visit we will eat there more on evenings.

The owner Lawrence Ruiz ( Mr Sweet Talker!) and his brother ( who made wonderful pina coladas!) were always around greeting and chatting with the guests. They really made us feel like we were home away from home.

To be at a hotel so close to the water and to have your bedroom literally on the water, is something you have to pay so much more in other places of the world.
The Conrado is not a 5 star hotel, but for us it was a 5 star experience and we will be coming back for sure.
Also we want to hear the sweet talk from Lawrence again!!

We stayed at Conrado for a week on our visit to a 3 week trip to Tobago. Its a really good location.

The manager (Paul) was extremely friendly. He and his girl friend tried to accommodate us in every way. The breakfast is really nice and included. Try the tobago section of the breakfast. Simply mind blowing.

The beach is not so nice as its primarily a fishing area. But its a good location to go to pigeon point (which has amazing beach).

I'd recommend going to this hotel on your stay. It can get a bit noisy at night if there is a party going on in Pigeon Point as its the closest hotel here. It is also walking distance from really nice restaurants and market place, bars, etc.

Room Tip: Try to get an ocean view room. Much bigger and better. You wont hear as much noise as the other side...

My family and I stayed here to attend my company's sports day at the nearby Pigeon Point beach. The room is basic and clean. The outdoor patio had 2 lounge chairs with a great view of the ocean. The only thing is that all the patios are right next to each other so there is no privacy out there.
They provided breakfast for us the following morning- tea or coffee with a cold ham sandwich- maybe I should have taken the cheese instead.
It's not the nicest but if you are on a budget and just want a place to rest your head after being up and about all day doing the tourist thing it is worth a try.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view room.

My family and I have stayed at Conrado three times so far. Will definitely go back next time we are in Tobago. Wonderful view of the sea as the resort is located right on the beach. Even though some people may argue that it is a bit dated. The wonderful staff and food surely make up for any slight shortcomings. We had the most delicious dinners you can think of. Consider the fish dishes as they are to die for and very fresh. Not to mention our wonderful and helpful waitress. Consider the sea view rooms with balconies as these are the best rooms to have. The location is also fantastic for people who do not have a car to get around. Pigeon Point is within walking distance. As well as for the more adventurous there is jet skiing on the door step. Our family group of 11 consisted of people from 9months to 78years and we all had the most wonderful stay at Conrado.

Consider staying at this resort as it is reasonably priced and should there be any hiccups it is promptly sorted out by Manager Lawrence and his staff. Thank you for a wonderful stay. Hope to stay with you all again when next we are in Tobago.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms are the best.

My girlfriend and I decided to take a trip to Tobago from August 21st to 23rd. We booked a room at the conrado even though it wasn't our first choice, but with the upcoming great race weekend getting accomodation was very tight and Conrado was offering us a fairly cheap stay at an agreed rate of $395TTD (approximately $60USD) per night.

We arrived in Tobago on the morning of the 21st and called the hotel to confirm our check in time at 3pm when we encountered the first red flag. The service attendant told us that our booking indicated that we were supposed to have been there from the 20th but then indicated that 'the guy' probably make a mistake and she would fix it.

We attempted to check in at the Conrado at 3pm however the reception area was empty for approximately 10-15 minutes while we walked around shouting 'hello' and ringing the telephone multiple times. Eventually a staff member named 'Norris' (I could be mistaken with the name) came casually strolling from outside, gave no apology then left us again while he walked upstairs. Eventually he came back down and tried to check us in, asked for the credit card and my girlfriend stopped him to confirm how much he was going to swipe for. He then told us our rate was $495TTD (approximately $77USD) to which we told him that the agreed upon rate was $395 when the booking was made. He implied that we were lying and that he would never say that because that is the off season rate. At that point we demanded to speak to the manager who was then summoned as "Mr. Antonio"

We explained the situation and the Manager told us that it was impossible for them to make a mistake like that, then showed us the booking made from the 21st-23rd for $495 a night to which we told him they doctored it because the original booking was made as the 20th-23rd erroneously as admitted by his own staff earlier and therefore we knew it was changed after it was made. We even explained all of our concerns including the long wait time and the worker's attitude to which he kept saying that they don't make mistakes and it is our error and we would have to pay the new rate they told us.

At this point we told them no thank you, and were prepared to sleep in our rental Suzuki Jimny however the lovely ladies at Bananaquit saved the day after a last minute cancellation. Be sure to read my review there. Stay away from the Conrado unless you enjoy disgusting attitudes, a shabby resort and dishonest staff.

Dear Miss RR,

We read with grave concerns your report on the experience/s you had with your reservation.

After investigating this matter ,i must say that there is no truth about what you have posted and it is very clear your intention.
The only mistake made was that your arrival date was one day earlier but as far as the Room rate was concerned ,you were given the correct rate (High Season Resident) and not Low Season resident which you wrongfully assumed.

The problem with your reservation was that there were a lot of assumptions on your part .And to avoid this ,confirmation via email or fax is the acceptable norm in this industry for obvious reasons.

We are Happy that your time on the Island was redeemed and that you both had a good holiday nevertheless.
We do hope that perhaps we can be of service to you in the near future.

Sincerest Regards,
Lawrence Ruiz

My husband and I visited this hotel and stayed overnight. Well, I was pleasantly surprised when I went into my room. We got an ocean view room. I am a very regular visiter to Tobago, but, the view from our room was absolutely fantastic.

We finally settled down into the room and was greeted with a very lovely a/c. We opened the curtains to see lights from the hotel gently resting on the waters. In the morning, the view was fantastic still with birds resting on the boats moored out at sea. We had a sumptuous buffet breakfast feeling almost as though we were floating on the waters with lovely local background music. The water is that close. The outside of the hotel is not great looking, but just step in. I passed this hotel many many times, now to my regret. Also, the best "disabled person" hotel I have ever encountered. They understand what it is to be handicapped. Service was great. It is the closest hotel to one of the best beaches in Tobago, Pigeon Point. Food is easily accessible.

Room Tip: Ask for a room which is ocean view on the first floor, with a balcony of course, would be best. If y...
