“Always good!!”
Reviewed August 11, 2014

Chef's have expanded, better eating area, clean and the food is always good. I can see the owner is trying at customer service however the girls just seem slow and distracted. They should be one server as each station and the box should be passed, whereas a server is walking around with your box, forgeting your order or additions and trying to attend to another customer.

“Home-style local food”
Reviewed July 28, 2014

There are a few branches of Chef's & Barbecue around Tobago, including one one Wilson Road, Scarborough's main commercial strip. There is another location just across the street from the ferry terminal.

At lunch you can get a wide range of home-style local cooking: braised chicken, oxtail stew, fried of stewed fish, pork chops, and a range of regional vegetable choices - fried plantain, breadfruit, root vegetables (dasheen, yam,...), side salads. There might be a very filling 'soup', virtually a stew.

The food is authentic, but heavy, and it isn't expensive (about TT$40). The service is typical of most fast-food places on the island: slow, remote and disengaged. Potentially bewildering until you realize that it isn't about you personally. Everyone is treated equally. There's air-conditioning, and you can eat there, but there is no "ambiance" in the classic sense -- although it's a great place to watch the local Tobago lunch time crowd. The bathrooms are to be avoided.

“Variety of dishes”
Reviewed July 2, 2014

there is a wide variety of dishes to choose from. Greater variety such as macaroni pie tends to be available around dinner. Pork dishes sell out quickly. The food is tasty and worth the price. The restaurant is clean and they have moved to a larger location in Crown Point.

“Great local food”
Reviewed June 18, 2014

They have several locations (Scarborough and crown point) and are open quite late. Service is ok (nothing special) and they are open a bit late. Food is good and consists of local food with a variety of meat (fish, pork, beef and chicken). More like a fast food atmosphere, there is dine-in and take out. The branch on carrington street sometimes often doesn't have available seats during lunch and dinner. Watch the calories.

“good food for a great price”
Reviewed June 11, 2014

food is good. tastes good. lots of variety. within 2 weeks i went there maybe 3-4 times...and everytime there was something different...chicken, grilled fish and chips of course were always there. usually there was choice of 6-7 side dishes and 4-5 mains, beef, pork, chicken, fish, lamb.
like in most places in tobago, you get huge amount of food. i m sure it is fresh, but they pre-cook it, so sometimes it isnt really hot, just a bit warm, especially when you eat there not during the busy hours in the evening...or it was just bad luck for me, cause of the low season. but beside the fact that the food was 2 times not really steaming hot, i fully recommend it.
