We visited the castle and gardens on a lovely hot , sunny summers day and had a great time. The national trust volenteers demonstrating the medieval weaponary were fantastic. They kept the kids entertained with the interactive sword, jousting and pike training in the castle courtyard. There where lots of weapons, armour and costumes available for the kids to try and dress up in. Our kids loved it. The Castle itself was lovely and there was alot of it open for viewing but as usual you come away wishing for more of it being available to see. The gardens were lovely and well maintained providing nice peaceful walks. There was a nice childrens play area next to a cafe but this could do with being a bit bigger to keep the kids occupied for longer but this is only a very minor moan on an otherwise fantastic day out for all our family
