Possibly the most impressive building in the Borough it offers a number of fine walks. It is part of several country parks in the area.

“Exciting location”
Reviewed September 10, 2012

We walked over the aqueduct with the kids nervously, but it was fantastic! What a feat of engineering and quieter than Telford's other local gem.
We then went through Chirk tunnel which is very close by. The older kids like it, but the younger ones got a bit scared by the darkness.
Overall, a little gem of a location with easy parking nearby.

“Great example of British 19th century engineering”
Reviewed August 27, 2012

I stumbled across the Chirk acqueduct by accident and was astonished to find this marvel of 19th century British engineering tucked away in tiny Chirk. The acqueduct was designed by Thomas Telford to take the Llangollen canal over the Ceiriog valley. It's amazing to walk across - a huge drop the other side - and must be an experience to go across in a canal boat. The later viaduct is alongside and the two together are a testament to British ingenuity. As a walker there is open access to the path alongside the acqueduct and lots of useful information boards put up by the local authority. Well worth a detour if you are in this area.
