A visually stunning hotel. Great staff. We stayed on a wine tour from Australia and were very well looked after throughout our stay. Only criticism is the bathroom design. Whilst I always hate showers over bathtubs, this particular design was dangerous with respect to falling etc. Otherwise a great stay!

Beautiful hotel with good and friendly staff in the heart of Ribera del Duero. Rooms are big and nicely decorated and the breakfast was excellent. We had dinner one night at the restaurant and also tried the tavern, both nights we ended up having some drinks at the library which is very cozy. The food is OK, nothing very special but quality price is correct (the restaurant was a bit overpriced for what we had). I recommend this hotel!

If you are like me and love excellent wine at reasonable prices, Pesquera and its sister bodegas are the wines for you. If on top of this you get to taste it in the impeccable surroundings with delicious food.... well what can I say.. match made in heaven!

We stayed last weekend at this hotel under the gastronomic package which included 2 nights bed and breakfast, gastronomic dinner with different wine tasting, cocktail workshop ((where we made, and DRANK 3 cocktails each :-), spa, and guided visit to the Pesquera bodega, all for 357 euros, which I consider to be amazing value. The food was top quality, the service very friendly, and a special mention must be made for Julio the Cuban sommelier/barman whose knowledge and friendliness made this a truly wonderful experience. The owner Alejandro Fernández, who is 80 years old and is still going strong as the patriarch of this family run winery visited us during the cocktail workshop and shared with us his love of wine and the land, and its little touches like that that make this hotel special.

Room Tip: some of the rooms face the castle

On the outskirts of a dull town the hotel was without any atmosphere and very expensive for what it offered. It felt as though you were captive as there were no real alternatives for you to choose from within either the hotel or indeed in the local town so the hotel charged extra for everything. Would have felt less sore if the standard was brilliant. Check in not until 1700 - too late. Very modern and not comfortable. Car parking charges were ridiculous when there were hardly any guests and also lots of car parking on the road outside. We cut our visit short.

The AF Pesquera is brand new, and the rooms are a fantastic standard. There was a lot about it that we loved during our three-night stay - the breakfasts were good, the staff very helpful, the bistro amazing value, the wine selection great, and it was a perfect base for touring wineries in the area.
Sadly, there were a few let-downs - as it was mid-week, the main restaurant was never open in the evening, and it was hard to find anywhere to eat in the area (we ate in the bistro almost every meal).
But the main issue was trying to charge for things that should have been free. The parking was expensive (which made no sense as the underground carpark had enough space for every room to park) and we never used the pool as the charge was something ridiculous like 10 euros (may have been more) for a short time slot. Again, as the hotel was almost empty, it made no sense at all. If you advertise your pool on your website, please let people know that it's not free.

We stayed four guys at this excellent hotel during our wine trip to Ribera del Duero. The hotel is brand new and every thing about it is fantastic.

The rooms are large and very modern. The restaurant serves great food and you can bring your own wines for free! In the bar we got excellent cocktails and you have to try their Gin & Tonics (one of their girls in the bar is going to the World Championship in G&T). We were also allowed to bring our own wines to the liberary to enjoy. Breakfast was also very good.

You can relax in the lounge furnitures in the garden or go to the indoor pool.

The staff are really nice, always happy and willing to help.

The pictures on their www do not cheat, they show how nice the hotel is.

All in all a fantastic

This is a brand new, upscale hotel in the sleepy little town of Penafiel owned by the Tinto Pesquera Bodega group. We stayed two nights as part of our Ribera del Duero wine trip. The room was bright, totally modern (glass enclosed bathroom and shower practically in the middle of the room) and comfortable. There are lovely spaces outside to be social and drink wine. The breakfast is really nice but the dinner was not so memorable - just okay. The staff went out of their way with service and helpful tourist information. If you stay in Penafiel, this should be your hotel choice.
