“Ok for a stopover”
Reviewed October 17, 2012 via mobile

Very much looking like a 1970,s holiday camp out of season there appears to be an active effort made by the hotel to make it as bland as possible and congratulations as its been achieved. There are no signs of any of the normal things found in hotels such as a bar, information points. The room was clean, shower good and handy WiFi but on checking in We went in search of cold drink and found a closed Resturant which did sell me a beer. At the very least a cold drinks machine at reception would have been useful. Hotel entertainment was sitting on the lawn watching the workmen grouting an empty pool! Stay too long and you may use the will to leave.

This is a very basic hotel, clean but in desperate need of a make-over. It reminded me of a 50's Butlins holiday camp.

Good points- pool was open and clean, and surrounded by lovely lawns. The food in the restaurant was plain but tasty.
Not so good points- staff speak very little English, so although they are very willing, communication is difficult. The breakfast was limited to scrambled eggs and one kind of fruit, served at long tables like a canteen. No iron, hair dryer or tea and coffee facilities in the room.

Conclusion- ok for a quick stopover.

Like many others we stayed here because we needed a place to stay between Oaxaca and
San Cristobal. But it was a boring hotel in a boring place. It could have been a hotel in any town in the world, there was nothing Mexican about it. The rooms were not bad, but we were glad to stay in another authentic hotel the next day.

Worst hotel on our Mexican tour. Basic (just adequate) rooms & bathrooms & poor service. As a feminist I hate to say this, but the Hotel Calli was the only one we visited that seemed to have ONLY female staff...!
The "restaurant " had as much atmosphere as a factory canteen & the waitress refused to turn down the air-con which was blasting down on our table & freezing us. Waited at least 30 minutes for our desserts - gave up hope, got up to walk out when our Tour Manager intervened & persuaded staff to give us desserts to take to our room. As for breakfast the next morning - NO FRESH BREAD; got French-style "biscottes" (dry crunchy toastzoids) instead! Need I say more?
The only plus point was the pool & gardens, but as it was getting dark by the time we'd settled in, there was no time to appreciate them.

Simple hotel in a quiet area outside the city of Tehuantepec. The room is average, a little obsolete but quite large, clean, AC (split type), Free Wi-Fi, TV, beautiful and very well maintained surrounding garden with a small swimming pool opened until 22.00. Basic breakfast (not buffet): juice, eggs (omelettes or fried eggs), coffee / tea. Perfect hotel for one night stop on the road to other destinations. The position currently displayed on the map is not correct (the hotel is not located in Oaxaca city).

We stayed just one night on our way from Oaxaca to Chiapas and it had all we needed. Parking, a spacious room and a nice swimming pool open till 22:00.

We didn't try the hotel restaurant because it looked too "touristic" for us. We tried a very humble restaurant by the road near the hotel where only mexicans were dining. It was a palapa where we had a delicious meal: "camarones enchipoclados" (shrimps with a hot chipotle sauce) and fried fish.

I think it is a hotel just for one night as it is on a road, far from everything, but it was just what we needed in our trip. The worst thing was carrying our heavy luggage through a series of stairs until arriving to the room.

We visited during a big heat wave and were not impressed with the trash along the roads everywhere. What a nice surprise to find a hotel on the edge of town with clean manicured grounds, a nice pool, a nice air conditioned restaurant and air condioning in the room that worked great. The hotel is very nice but the rooms are actually below average. The bathrooms have a locker room decor but overall this place was better than expected. A busload of Canadian tourists arrived so there were other english speakers there. The staff was very nice and helpful but spoke no english, which is great if you are trying to practice your spanish! They have wireless internet in the restaurant so we sat and checked our e-mail and drank the cheap cervesas.
