The waterfalls themselves could be one of Kenya's best natural attractions as they are wide and spectacular. However, the management completely lets the place down. I have no idea what the entrance fees go towards. The river in so polluted it is green and foaming. There is litter everywhere and there are no bins to help manage the problem. There is a large car park, but nowhere to sit. We found some rocks and had a brief picnic!
With a little investment in litter picking, litter bin provision and a walkway/viewing platform this really go be a beautiful place for a day trip out of Nairobi. As it is, I would not recommend anyone makes the effort!

15$ per person, 5$ parking, 5$ per camera. Lots of rubbish, if you have seen waterfalls before you dont need to see this one.

We had been told the falls were polluted but decided to go have a look anyhow. The first alarm bells sound when you see the prices. About 1 dollar for residents and 15 dollars for foreigners plus 5 dollars per camera. Luckily we were residents, but many were outraged at the disparity. Especially as there is no register and you cannot imagine the money going anywhere but into the guards' pockets.
At first glance the falls are magnificent, could be an amazing place to spend the day picnicking on the rocks etc. However the foul chemical smell, reams of rubbish strewn across all the rocks, weird foam from, I guess, industrial waste, really ruin the experience.
It probably is a result of towns along the river not having proper waste disposal/ being taught to respect the environment, but it just shows how disregard for the environment ruins such pristine spots.
I really hope someone, one day, tries to address all these issues.
Can't help but think how while local officials pocket the money, a clean falls with nice hotel, tourism activities, would benefit the entire local community.
Worth it for a good instagram pic, but not for the sadness at such wasted potential.
