“Club med sahoro”
Reviewed March 13, 2013

As I just came back from my holiday in Club med Sahoro, I really wanted to share my opinion on this resort and on the GO's team of this resort !!

First at all I have to say I found this resort really nice, relaxing and offering a rich range of divers activities !
You will always find something to do after a long day on slopes, could be anything such as : Salsa lesson with a very patient teacher, Japanese calligraphy at the bar, an inside circus experience, iced skating, pools, gym ... and so many others !!!
The Pool area is really great with a huge window giving on the outside covered of snow while you are in a warm swimming pool or Jacuzzi !! Don't forget the Canadian bath, you must dare it, you will be surprised how much it's a relaxing and a nice experience !!
What about food and brewages ? I enjoyed so much the food, good quality and many choices, but not only the place is just beautiful and well organised. any time ( Normal opening hours or late opening hours ) I walked thru it I always hag been very welcome !!
Do not esitate to ask the Fabulous and Friendly bar staff to surprised you with some Cocktails, before Show time ( don't miss any of the shows, you will be surprised by all choreographies, dancing and the Circus team ) you won't regret it !!!
The GO's team of reception has been very competent and so helpful with me !!
I really want to thanks all of them very much for everything they done, they are awesome and always there, ready to help you !!!

Thank you to all of the GO's for this amazing holiday in Japan !!!

Hokkaido is a place with the quality and quantity of powder snow that never fails your expectation. Every Club Med has its own characteristics and hence gave me a sense of difference in comparing my previous visit in Club Med Yabuli China. Not expecting there are many kinds of sashimi and sushi for 'All You Can Eat', the food quality are very good with some varieties changes every night. The bars and different theme nights have been very entertaining. Accomodation is basic but has been kept in very good shape. Glad that I met some English speaking ski instructors but some language allowance have to be given to those Japanese coaches. Agreed with other reviews that some classes, especially those Club 1 & 2, are a bit crowded but overall considering the condition and number of the ski runs, Club Med Sahoro did provide another memorable experience for skiing in Japan.

Stayed in Sahoro for 7 days and we had a brilliant time. the kids were kept busy all day, between ski lessons, gaming activities, shows (which they participated in). The kids loved it. The mini club and Petit Club Med GOs were great and very attentive. In fact the whole Club Med team did a fantastic job.
With the kids busy, the parents had a great time as well. Plenty of time to ski, relax and enjoy the facilities at our own pace.
The buffet selection was fantastic, great variety and great quality. The skiing was great as well, lots of snow, no queues on the slopes. Definitely recommend Club Med Sahoro. It was great service all the way.

Our first Club Med. Overall, very happy.
The rooms are a quite dated, the beds are firm and the pillows are hard. Some of the Japanese staff had very limited English. The ski lessons are a lucky dip. I had one ok lesson, then three where the only advice was "remember your balance", the class sizes were way too big, they needed more instructors, they must know this from the feedback, so I presume they do this for cost savings. The staff must sit with you at dinner, very strange this is. On the plus side, it has a great position, you walk straight out to the snow. The food is excellent, however what made the trip for us was the Kids club. The staff were fantastic, especially Mellisa, the kids adored her, she went out of her way to keep them entertained.
We'll go again.

Had a 5 day stay there with kids. Everything is as promised other reviews - friendly staff, good entertainment, food ok not exceptional but not bad either. Rooms are comfy. The only thing the general manager needs to get a handle on is the shortage of ski instructors and the sizes of the lesson groups (way too large to get any real progress). In other resorts 6 is pretty much the max size of any ski group - not here. I'd be ok with it if not for the consolidation of classes so that the instructors get some time off to ski. Given that ski lessons are included in the package price you would be pretty unhappy to be stuck in a bigger group than necessary while the instructors take turns goofing off for a couple of runs rather than giving guests more individualized attention. Not sure if that is part of their contract with club med to have some time off. If it isn't, the general manager needs to monitor and rectify the situation. With the large group sizes and the language barrier, I found the lessons a bit of a waste of time as I wasn't picking any tips up and spending lots of time waiting for others in a huge group. Apart from that, it was a nice relaxing holiday.

Just at airport waiting fir flight back to Hong Kong aft a great family holiday at club med. they have a formula that works and grows on you , even if at first you try to fight against it. The GO team in Sapporo under Phillippe know each other well and it shows. Snow is great and whilst slopes are best suited fir beginners and intermediates the snow is amazing.
As for resort itself it is clean, well laid out and runs like clockwork. Buffets change daily and kids club very very good. Canadian hot tub and pool are a welcome end to a day of skiing, and found out the is even an japanese bath hidden away . Only small frustration is that coach links to and from resort are not well timed and means long waits at airport. Club med well done. If you like skiing and like club med then this is for you

Room Tip: Quad room good although only two beds and two futons. Dont have floor two as noisy

We stayed for 6 nights at the beginning of Feb. Our 3 yr old went to the Petit Club which is worth every penny (make sure you remember to bring a copy of yr child's immunization card!!!). A big thank you to the GOs especially to Miname (I think I've spelt that wrong!) and Agnes who did an amazing job, and Barbara too. Big big thank you, as you all made it possible for my husband and I to go skiing without worrying. They kept our son busy and entertained and even put the kids down for a nap after lunch, successfully! We peeked in on him from afar during lunchtime and Miname took such good care of him; he always had a smile on his face, except the first day where he cried for 10 minutes. They get to play outside in the snow daily, and take food allergies seriously. They changed his clothes and all when they got dirty etc and did a fantastic job!

Our 11 year old went snowboarding for the first time. He loved it at the kids club and generally kept himself busy with the daily snowboarding sessions then hanging out with other kids afterwards. Kids are generally so happy and don't want to see you until dinner time! We felt the place was secure enough for him to dismiss himself and meet us at tea time. By the last day, he was able to progress to the adult snowboarding class but he said he found the kid's sessions more enjoyable as there was a lot of waiting around for the adults.... So maybe they shouldn't mix adults with kids as the mindset is different and kids have no fear! He would like to thank Roland for being so cool and for teaching him so well!

We are not keen skiers but felt we achieved something by the end of our holiday. We enjoyed ourselves and found the instructors mostly good, especially Pierrbut any hv wrong name, but he's the more mature French guy). Only one Japanese instructor seemed to hv communication problems. However, our first day skiing was terrible as the instructor (Aussie) didn't seem experienced with the slopes and even asked another instructor if he had taken his group down a particular path! We were a group of newbies and he took us to a very steep slope and needless to say it was quite dangerous as loads of us fell and collided with each other. Also, he failed to take us back to clubmed at the end session. 5 of us got stuck at the bottom of a run because the lifts had closed, so we ended up walking, uphill, in our ski boots, skis in hand, on the road for a good 20 mins. Moreover, It was frustrating when club 2 had about 40 people in it and they spent like 45 mins grouping us into skill groups. Class sizes were on large size which needs to be addressed. Last bad comments, ski hire was a very long wait despite lovely, patient staff and we couldn't book a private instructor due to shortages.

About rooms, we had a deluxe quad. The only real difference between normal quad is the bathroom shower. They are actually the same size, although the deluxe quad actually feels smaller because it has a darker decor.

Food was good at the buffet and enough variety. It's probably the best quality we have experienced at a club med and the cleanest! Mina Mina had fantastic beef and ramen, but the seafood wasn't that special. If you really want to try this restaurant, you'll have to queue up at 7:20am because i queued at 7:30am on the first attempt, waited for 20 minutes, and was told there were no spaces left - go early! With young kids, it's probably not worth the hassle as it's easier in the buffet.

It was a positive experience on the whole because of beautiful snow, great staff and the kids were so happy and cared for; we would definitely return again!

Room Tip: If you aren't fussed about a nicer shower/ toilet then club quad is more or less the same as del...
