Before reading this review will say that there are 2 different parts of this hotel/lodge. An older part where they put people with pets and a new area with out pets. With that being said here is the review:

We stayed here for 2 weeks until we could move into our permanent home. We are military and were given this hotel given they are pet friendly. I will say the staff is excellent. Very friendly and accomodating. The cleaners come every day and are very nice. The Manager, I didn't know her name but every time I saw her she was friendly and always asked how we were doing.

Lodge itself or at least where we stayed was old and outdated. Again, the older part of the lodge. As soon as we walked in, it had that "musty cabin" smell. It is very hot and humid here in Okinawa but again older place. Our unit came with 3 bedrooms, refrigerator, small stove, microwave and bath-shower. Also had Ethernet enabled internet-very fast.

Cleaniness was ok. The unit did have some cockroaches but in their defense probably came from outside when the door was open. Beds were comfortable. Stay overall was ok. Not luxerious my any means. They were pet friendly as the grounds had some grass for walking the dog.

Location was excellent. Minutes from the Seawall and American Village for restaurants, etc.

I can't say I would recommend this to another family based on the unit itself but if you have pets this is your best choice and again friendly staff and location.

I've heard of the Eagle Lodge which has a good reputation but they don't have the location.

We were here while waiting for our house to be ready to move in to. They are pet-friendly with no pet fees, so that was nice. Our place was a little 3 bedroom unit. The rooms were adequately sized, lots of closet space (for those staying long-term). Full fridge, range (no oven), microwave, excellent A/C and internet, a washer in the unit and coin dryers downstairs for 100 yen. We were here for 2 weeks and found it perfectly fine. There are some improvements that could be made (broken tiles in the bathroom, etc.), but it was very clean, cleaned every day but Sunday, and the staff was very friendly. The name 'Lodge' is appropriate, so don't expect too much, but it was completely fine for what we needed. And it is within walking distance to the sea wall where there are many restaurants, as well as American Village, a large shopping/dining area (15 min walk or 500 yen cab ride).

Very friendly staff. Rooms very clean. Good internet. Large refrigerator and different softness to the beds so you could choose what hardness of ma tress you preferred. Also easy walking distance to the American village and a variety of restaurants. Very recommended. Pool was not working but you could walk to the water.

My husband is in Okinawa on business for an extended stay. I'm here for only 10 days but I love this hotel.
Our unit is a three bedroom with two terraces, a small kitchen and comfortable living space. Well furnished and everything works.

Room Tip: Stay in the upper floor(s) of the tower section.

My experience at Hamagawa lodge was great. First, the Location. Only a second walk and you'll find Korean BBQ, Chinese or Italian restaurant, convenience store, and Grocery shop. Right by the Bus stop. Very close to the ocean, you can walk by the seawall hearing sound of wave. About 15min walk to the "Mihama American Villege", which is huge shopping area w/big mall, cine plex, almost all of the world cuisine, Cafe, Live house, bowling, Karaoke, etc...

Facilities are surrounded by lots of green which is cozy, huge parking area(We had rental car and no parking fee, of course), they have 2 annex, one is a bit older, but they allow Pets! The other one is newer, room is full of space. It has 3 bedroom, living room w/TV, dining is also well furnished. Big refrigerator, Micwave/Oven, sink, pot/pans, and Utensil. Shower w/tub and toilet was clean, has laundry machine in the room, that also saved our stay a lot. Huge balcony w/greens, A/C, and a bed was so comfortable!! English spoken lodge staff are super friendly, kind and helpful. Which also made our trip greater.

Its great accommodation for all divers, pet owners, family stay, and Okinawa excursion.

We were looking for an inexpensive hotel for 2 days of diving in Okinawa. Chatan-cho seemed like a good location because of the great offshore diving to see coral, easy access to Naha / airport and Kerama Islands. There are a couple of shopping centers in the area as well, with restaurants and grocery stores (American Village and Hamby Town). The dive shop arranged a stay at the Hamagawa Lodge for us. About 10 minute walk to the Sunabe seawall; many people were snorkeling and diving in the area. Closer to American Village is a white sand beach.

The Hamagawa Lodge is a good deal for the price, especially if staying with a family or large group. We had two bedrooms, a living room, bathroom and kitchen. The appliances and bathroom are a little run down and I wouldn't take a soak in the bathtub. The furniture is not too old, not too new and not of the highest quality. But, it is otherwise quite clean and rather comfortable. Cable TV is provided. It is also used by military families as they arrive or depart.

The bus to/from Naha / airport stops nearby. There is plenty of free parking. The office has limited hours, with cell phone availability. No real room service, although with the kitchen and nearby restaurants and grocery store, that isn't a problem.

Overall, a great price for a great location, with plenty of room to store gear and be comfortable.
