I love these cosy little houses! I've been in Pamporovo many times but this vacation is the best. Warm and enjoyable private house in a pine tree forest, friendly staff, free parking and close to the slopes.

Being novice skiers we judged Bulgaria to be the place to go, and moreover its incredibly cheap. Having only ever skiied in Austria before (never again !) we were impressed by the 'modern' facilities. The Malina Village was exactly what we were looking for. Our own 'log' cabin, the biggest bed i have ever seen and more than adequate facilities. The 'cabin' was toasty warm and welcoming although it may be a bit cramped if more then 2 adults were staying due to lack of storage space. The resort ticked all our boxes and the snow was just incredible. The food is cheap but choosing from the menu was sometimes a little bizarre and always ask for your meat to be well cooked, they serve pork and chicken rare! Booze sooooo cheap, it would have been rude not to! We were so impressed we are taking all the family for Christmas. Go on give it a go, you cant go wrong.

Pamporovo is a great place for a winter holiday. Everywhere is covered by snow, there are great skiing places, Bulgarian food and beers are great and moreover, everything is very cheap.

We have stayed in Malina Chalets in Pamporovo 2 years in a row for 4 nights each. We were 2 couples. We found this Malina Chalets on internet and made a reservation very easily. There are more than 20 wooden dublex houses. There is a saloon, dining table, kitchen and bathroom on the ground floor. On the upper floor, there is one main bedroom with king size bed and the other smaller room where there are two single beds. There is an electic brick stove in the saloon which heats up the entire house easily. Bathroom is heated from the floor and there is an additional electric heater on the upper floor, which you really don't need to open. There are all necessary equipments in the kitchen.

This private house is all yours for nearly nothing. The daily rate of the house was only 60 EUROs in 2009. Considering you are staying 4 people, it is nothing. Moreover, this rate is breakfast included, which is served in the restaurant. You can also have lunch or dinner in the restaurant later on but we enjoyed to go to the supermarket and grab our own food and prepare simple dishes in the chalet and party ourselves.

The skiing center is only 10 min walking distance to Malina Chalets. If you want to go to Pamporovo center, where the major hotels and some shops are located, you need to take a taxi which will not cost more than 5 EUROs and drive for 5 min.

Forget about staying in a hotel room in your holiday. Enjoy this private lodging with building your own snowman at your door, digging your beers into the snow and enjoy the silence of nature at your balcony.

Strictly recommended.

Malina Village is a nice and calm place in the mountains, where you can chill during the hot summer days. There are a lot of small huts, where you can enjoy the clean and fresh air coming from the pine forest surrounding the place.

We stayed during Feb 2012 half term week and really enjoyed our time there. We struggled to find many recent reviews of the cottages so thought this would be helpful for other travellers!
So here you go:
Positives - really warm, cosy, loads of charachter, clean, good choice of breakfast (hot and cold). Very close to the slopes, only 5 mins walk away. The cottages have a really quirky feel and you do feel like you have your own little wooden house. Minibar is really good too with wine, spirits, chocolate and crisps ( reasonably priced too).

Downsides - storage is lacking a bit, bring some extra hangers not sure if 4 people would have enough room to store their stuff? Its 2 miles into Pamporovo centre from the cottages and a return taxi is £15 but some of the restaurants will pick you up and drop you off which we didn't know until towards the end. Also no kettle so bring a travel one. Would also be good to bring a tea towel and a sponge for cleaning your cups as they don't do them either. Probably my fault but I didn't realise they didnt have a bath I think I saw bathroom somewhere and thought that meant it had a bath!

To be honest for the money we paid for a week (£300) to have your own little chalet you can easily see past its faults. We would definitely book again and thought Pamporovo was a fab ski destination.

On first arriving at Malina Villas in the middle of the night, we were greeted by welcoming staff and shown to our chalet. It was lovely and warm even though it was snowing outside! The accomodation was basic and not really as I had pictured it from the travel broucher. It was perfect for skiing though! We had two couples staying and had to pick who was going to have the triple bed and who was going to get the smaller room with twin beds! Upstairs was a lot colder than downstairs and the stairs were the 'half' stairs - the type that allow only one foot on.
We were half board so had a 3 minute walk to the restaurant where we were greeted by lovely, attentive staff and cold food! The choice of food was exactly what you want after skiing - stew, casseroles , pastas, soup etc only it was disappointingly cold but that's the way the Bulgarian's eat their food! The salads were lovely!
The skiing was great! Lots of snow but lots of skiiers too! At the beginning of the week all the beginners are littered over the gentle slopes around the ski/boot centre and start lessons at 10 am. The ski lift to the top gets very busy around this time too! As the week progresses all the beginners start to use the green run which also get very busy. But to be expected during half term week! The price for food can vary depending on how high up the mountain you go! Carry 1 leva coins to pay for the toilets - they are rarely free!
The ski school was good aswell. We had a lovely instructor. It would have been good to have changed groups half way through week as our group had a lot of children and unconfident skiiers. Be warned - be very careful when skiing! I ended up having key hole surgeory on my knee due to nasty fall! You never think it's going to happen to you! I would advise that you carry on you any insurance papers, EU health care card and credit/debit card! The medical aid at the ski centre is all private care so be expected to pay if you do get hurt!
Maria, the Inghams rep, is lovely! She was really helpful and spoke fantastic English!

The chalets in Malina village were generally very good. We were very impressed when we first arrived, they are a lovely size, very comfortable and nicely furnished. they would comfortably sleep two adults and two children, probably not good for any more people due to lack of storage space for clothes etc, although they could potentially sleep up to 6. they have a very decently equipped kitchen, particularly good if you are half board / B&B and want to make lunches etc, although i would say definitely take a travel kettle if you like cups of tea/cofffee as there is nothing much to heat water in. the chalets were generally kept clean and serviced every day, although the maids dont tend to make the beds very well. the food in the restaurant was varying, the choice was not always fabulous and some nights were better than others. go early to dinner and breakfast or it tends to get cold as it is self-service/buffet food and is not very well reheated. bulgarian food is generally colder than english, so be prepared for that. the waiters were very attentive and polite, in general all the staff were good. overall i would definitely say they are value for money, it is really niice to have your own little chalet and I woudl recommend them to other people, although be prepared for Bulgarian traditions!
